I've been searching every where for a website that has about 500 pinball rules sheets, and it seems to not exist.

Let me state were I've been: IPDB does NOT include game instructions, KLOV, PINSIDE, Daveland ( World Pinball Directory-all web links too), IFPA. etc,.

Sites that have some game rules and strategy of play:
Pinball.org (PAPA), pinball news.com, stern pinball.com, gameplanpinball.com, (and now Tiltforums, pintips, VPForums) have some more, BUT these sites combined will only account for about 250. PLUS the rules are only in type set, which makes it hard to understand the instructions because there are NO pics.

If there isn't one, then let's make one place that you can find several hundred pinball games rules and strategy, and especially with screen shots of the play fields. It would be a highly visited website! NOTE: let the game owners put up the info, so the site owner won't be doing much of the work.

    That's a neat idea.

There's a bunch here on the papa site.

I already referenced them, but they only have about 100 games (pinball.org).

    #7 6 years ago

I've already referenced them but thank you anyways.

Oh boy, Tiltforums will help add many more pins to my list, but there are still several hundred more that need adding. What a great find. Pintips.net assumes you already know the rule sheet very well. Your recommendations have allowed me to alter my original post to now state only rule sheet. We need a site that lists about 500 pin's RULE SHEETS. This site I don't think exits.

Not really true. What is true, however, is that a lot of people are enthusiastic about writing game tips but have no idea how to convey their thoughts in a useful way.

i apologize for not stating more clearly what I'm looking for. Well, I've edited my original post, and what I believe the pinball community desperately needs, which is rule sheets with pics.

I own a virtual pinball machine with 362 games, and after adding the rule sheets from tilt forums I now have 209 games with instructions. That's all I'm aware of after hours of searching all the pinball websites. Hours of works. We need ONE website! There are probably 750 games widely used today I'm guessing. One website giving rule sheets for at least 500 pins would be popular and helpful.

Sweet. How much does this job that you are trying to hire someone for pay?

    #11 6 years ago

I've always thought Pinside should have a rules and strategy section under each game in the GAMES tab.

Would also be great if this was easily accessed by an app on your smartphone (especially for location play etc).

You gotta get out there and learn them yourself snowflake!

The hourly wage is actually up for negotiation, so it would be whatever your willing to pay yourself.

Game play/rule tips for all Pinball games.

Rule number one: shoot the ramp or target or scoop where the light is lit up or flashing.
Rule number two: try not to let the ball drain down the middle or out the side lanes and don't tilt.

I dont understand the sarcasam... I dont think anyone is being asked to do work here- so much as perhaps the idea that such a resource could exist is viewed as a flying carpet type of sales pitch!

OP-if you build it they will come. Rather than pointing out obvious shortcomings why not provide a template and vision for what you would like to see and start building it based upon what seems to be a ton of prior work on your part. I think others would add if we had something to add to- if you dont like what exists ya kinda need to build a better mousetrap and see if it sells- or approach owners of acknowledged resources and see if you could collaborate to complete what you see a need to complete.

I get this is what your proposing- but are you proposing to do it- or are you simply annoyed it does not exist today?

Maybe its the “Lets make” in the original post that has people thinking your proposing others do all this work.

I can definitely host this sort of content on Pinside. We could dedicate a whole new tab to it for every game in our game archive. Naturally, we don't want to post stuff without permission from the author, so please keep that in mind.

My brother and I were just recently discussing this idea of writing very simple, "micro-rulesheets" for our gameroom games. Rulesheets of no longer than half a page with some recurring basic elements. E.g. "Main goal", "What to shoot for", "How to get to multiball", "Reaching wizard mode". Etc. - Like those factory-supplied rule cards - but a bit more details (the rule cards are often fairly confusing, especially to newbies). Adding images would be neat too. E.g. a playfield map with some numbers on it, referenced in the text.

I do rules (with pictures) for my games (about 12 of them). Click...

I'm not interested in redoing all that work somewhere else. But if there's an easy way to copy the information and pictures, anyone is welcome to it.

I just came across a very nicely designed rule sheet / cheat sheet for Tron, posted here a while ago:

    https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/tron-rules-cheat-sheet

Really love the format of that one. Of course, not all games have rules which lend themselves to being presented like that, but if I were to write short rule sheets, that one would be the gold standard to me.

    #22 6 years ago

Rules for a few other games can be had in the pro versions of Pinball Arcade. They are not in the public domain, but are worth knowing about.

    #23 6 years ago

    The pinball arcade app.

What you have to remember is those rulesheets were made by people in their spare time. So the only way you’ll be able to get to your five hundred is to hope others do it or do it yourself.

I believe every source of rulesheets has been discussed here so after that you’ll have to get to writing! Good luck. A one stop shop for this stuff would be nice but a huge undertaking.

I'm working on the one-stop quick reference guide...including short tutorial videos, game rules and tips, even some strategies...but only has about 70 games so far...will be adding many more...into the app, Pinball Coach, available and free on Apple and Google play stores.

    #25 6 years ago

I recommend that players interested in becoming students of the game go learn/digest the rules themselves, primarily by actually playing a pin, or playing with someone else who knows the pin.

But if you just have to know in advance, in addition to rule sheets, pintips.net, and Pinside and Tiltforums searches....
    - video tutorials
    - gameplay video
    - competition video
    - Instruction cards on IPDB
    - Manuals on IPDB

Or even better: ask a friend or other people online. It's fun to talk about pinball.
