Pretty sure he was expecting innovation.

Quoted from ectobar:In the innovation dept, Eric does say in the video they patented a new sensor. It's used in the shooter lane, not sure where else.
Good point. I believe these are used on the piano keys as well. Those new sensors are cool and innovative...probably not as sexy as some new mech but still very cool.
Quoted from Hazoff:Nope.
Dude you serious?Bachman Turner Overdrive is the best of Canadian rockers!

Easy to locate the trolls now, all in one place. They are working real hard this time but people are playing and loving GnR
I wonder how many upvotes on this topic are from CE owners...would be interesting to find out.
Personally I think this just continues the trend of all pinball machines getting more expensive...both used and new...except perhaps a few titles that have released the past year or two that people are now unloading for a discount so they can free up some money for GnR. So long term, no it will be the opposite...short term you can find a few Sterns for a few hundred bucks less than market average before GnR release.
I don't think GNR devalues anything .... Its a great game with multiple innovations (code, layout, lighting, theme integration) that is very expensive like most pinball games, but to say one game devalues an entire market is just stupid. GNR is no different than any other new game that hits the market. People want it and in many cases they need to sell another game to help fund that purchase. In most cases pinball games depreciate the day u open the box unless its a game thats limited (i.e. maybe GNR CE's will appreciate) or they simply stopped building the game i.e. POTC. There have been many examples of Stern games that were very limited that appreciated (AC/DC BIB, Tron LE, etc...)...its all over the map

The Considered Dead album was some of the first Death Metal I ever heard. I had no idea, then again at that point I'm turning 18 years old and mine as well be on a different planet compared to now.
Quoted from romulusx:Bachman Turner Overdrive is the best of Canadian rockers!
in their teaser video, JJP implied 'you aint seen nothing yet'. their CE allocation showed they were 'lookin out for # 1'. now its time to continue making games and 'takin care of business'.

Quoted from RustyLizard:Let's face it people, this thresd has devalued Pinside.
Yeah, let’s get back to great Canadian rock bands...
April Wine has some great tunes and they were great to see live!

Would buy the top model of a Devin pin without even seeing it...though my avatar may give that away
My favorite artist for over a decade now.
Though I know it will never happen :/
Quoted from adamsebas:No way that this game is a game changer. Once the honeymoon period wears off it will come down to gameplay and it looks boring as hell to me.
they all get boring eventually if you play them enough
Quoted from greenhornet:dont forget about Loverboy.
Ugh, I had almost forgotten them. Thanks
I should kick you in the shin. I won't shout from a mountaintop that Rush is the best rock band ever, but Moving Pictures and Exit... Stage left are masterpieces. Plus, this:
Forgive the 80's hair styles. This happened in the 80's.

Say what you want but Rush total album sales is 40 million to GnRs 100 million. Personally, GnR is the better band and it’s not even close.

I listened to Spaghetti Incident yesterday for the first time - first 3 songs are great, then it starts going downhill. Maybe it’s better if you know the songs. UYI 1 and 2 and AfD are really excellent albums. I’ll have to try to get a copy of Chinese Democracy. Too bad this band imploded.
Quoted from Eightball88:Yeah, let’s get back to great Canadian rock bands...

OK. I like Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider.

Say what you want aboot GNR but Justin Bieber total album sales 150 million
Quoted from RustyLizard:OK. I like Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider.
Then he comes back with "Life is a Highway," 2 timer!
Arguing about music is laughable ....everyone has different tastes just like pinball games....I like GNR, but I'm no groupie....they have 6-7 songs that are awesome, and a few others that I also enjoy....I felt the same way about MET, and Aerosmith...AC/DC is my fav band ever, but the game wasn't as fun as MET. The GNR game looks very innovative to me, and in typical JJP fashion has very deep code and will take a while to fully understand all the nuances. The entire theme integration on GNR is on an entirely different level than any other music game by a mile. I can't wait to get one in my collection and start exploring. For some reason music and pinball just works...
Quoted from PtownPin:Arguing about music is laughable ....
That was before we had a music teacher in the thread that knows!

do you also think arguing about pinball is laughable?

I wonder if having the Chinese Democracy sticker on the spinning record will devalue that machine as a whole? I bet Best Buy still has copies of Chinese Democracy on their discount racks.

I didn't intend to disparage GNR. They definitely enhanced my life. Frankly, comparing the two bands doesn't make sense. A 3-man prog rock band and an ensemble hard rock band are as different as bananas and grape juice. Likewise, I wouldn't try to compare GNR's total discography against MJ's Thriller.
Quoted from branlon8:do you also think arguing about pinball is laughable?
He finds it laughable anytime someone disagrees with JJP being the best.
Quoted from Eightball88:Ugh, I had almost forgotten them.
hope you havent forgotten this one.
true 'canadian content' featuring geddy lee of RUSH.
At least one million copies of 'The Great White North' album were sold in North America and earned a triple-platinum certification from the Canadian Recording Industry Association.
'Take Off' was a hit, peaking at number 16 on the Billboard 100 singles chart in March 1982, higher than any of Rush's songs ever charted on the U.S. top 40. It was Geddy Lee's biggest hit.
Quoted from VividPsychosis:Say what you want but Rush total album sales is 40 million to GnRs 100 million. Personally, GnR is the better band and it’s not even close.
GnR was the better-selling band. You can't prove who is "better." I think Rush had more talent overall but GnR had good songwriting and Slash.
Quoted from branlon8:do you also think arguing about pinball is laughable?
Not really as theres more to discuss....music is way too personal, and typically exposes age
Quoted from TheLaw:He finds it laughable anytime someone disagrees with JJP being the best.
I don't think anyone is the best....just very different
Quoted from cait001:...is what is going to get CFTBL prices back to earth...
Sadly I just saw a thread with new Lyt-Brights clowning puking one so the price is back up again!
