any diodes on that coil?if yes then it is possible one of the diodes is bad and blowing out that transistor.
the coil,the diodes on that coil(if any are there.) the pre drive transistor-small one,the main transistor-big one.all these would need to be tested at the same time,so you wont be doing/replacing them over and over again.
