I created this mod for my Lethal Weapon. I thought I'd share it here in case others are interested. There is a 4 digit numeric 7-segment LED module running a countdown loop that is activated by the drop down target reset. After a period of inactivity, an attract loop starts that with a message and a short countdown timer. If there is enough interest, I may make some more and offer them for sale. See pics and vids below. Thanks.

Looks good, it’s cool it actually works too! Most people may not want to blow up those drop targets tho... it could get expensive over time.

Well, it's an expensive hobby in any case. I wondered how long it would take to get a comment on the drop target. You did not disappoint! I expect the "worn out rubber" jokes to be next.

this looks cool...i have dynamite sticks on my lethal but no count down clock ...what would be the cost if you were to produce these

2 weeks later
#5 5 years ago

Ya i would be intrested in knowing a cost .... LW3 is awesome

#6 5 years ago

Nice work i would be keen for one

#7 5 years ago

nice, how much?

#8 5 years ago

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking it would be about $100. It takes a while to make them. If I can come up with a quick way to make that rectangular hole for the timer in the dynamite sticks, it would be less. Right now I use a dremel cutting wheel and carve out the corners with an xacto knife. I'm thinking I need some sort of router template I can use with the router mounted on a router table.

I've decided to build 3 of them as a test run. I will sell them for $100 plus shipping. The wiring needed to hook up the 5V, activation sensor and install instructions will be included. I will try to make the install kit solderless. Depending on the time involved, I may have to raise the price in the future(after these 3) if I decide to make any more. I will sell these 3 to the first 3 people(one per person) to say that the want one on this thread. It's sounds like toasterman04 is number one, 2 more slots left. I won't ask for any money until I'm ready to ship.

#11 5 years ago

I'll take one. Let me know.

#12 5 years ago

Oh super excited! Great addition to a great game

#13 5 years ago

OK, Pondwater, you're number 2, only 1 left! I worked on them today, I love the smell of fresh TNT.

Sweet,
I can do a YouTube vid on it if that would help.

#16 5 years ago

can you send us the link to where you bought the count down clock....

#17 5 years ago

Sorry for the off topic post, but can any of you owners help me out with this thread?

I wrote up some install instructions, I'm interested in your feedback on them. Yes, a video would be helpful.

You cant buy the "countdown clock" anywhere, I created and programmed it. Also, it's not just a countdown timer, it has 2 programs. The attract loop is triggered after 30 seconds of inactivity. The countdown program is triggered triggered by the dropdown target reset.

toasterman04 and pondwater, can you check your game to see if you have this connector in the area of the tilt mechanism?

I'll take one if still available

Hi TxJay, You got the last one for this batch. Also, If I make any more of these, the price is going up. It's taking me a lot more time than I anticipated.

Also TxJay, I saw your build thread, that is one beautiful LW3 you have there!

OK, thanks. My machine has some interesting wiring hacks, I just wanted to be sure you have that connector. That's where we'll tap the 5V for the mod.

#26 5 years ago

They are ready to ship. I created a 10 page installation guide. Don't worry, it's mostly pics, it's not too painful.

I have that unused connector as well.

#29 5 years ago

I don't even have this pin and I want the mod !

#30 5 years ago

ya... Im taking LW3 to YEGPIN at the end of the month... Hope it gets here by then so i can show it off..

OK, that's good to know, hopefully it exists on all the games out there. All 3 of the mods were shipped out today. You should have all received tracking numbers.

#32 5 years ago

I received mine yesterday. The build quality looks great. Funny, it was bigger than I was expecting. I don't know why, you have pictures of it mounted. I just never looked at it that close I guess. I will be installing it this weekend and I will post pictures of it.

One question. What method did you use to mount the TNT to the plastic? I have some ideas but just curious what you had done.

#33 5 years ago

DOH! I knew I forgot something in the instructions. I used hot glue on top of the 2 plastic retaining post nuts. It's holding just fine for a couple of months now and it's removable. You probably could use a clear silicone caulk in a similar manner. Be sure to test the ramp clearance by rolling a ball down the wire ramp.

Regarding the size, the width is actually 1/4" shorter than mine. I felt like mine was a bit too wide. Let me know if you have any installation questions/challenges. I'm curious how the kit and instructions work for people.

#34 5 years ago

ohhhh man I can't wait to get mine!!

#35 5 years ago

Take my MONEY !

#36 5 years ago

Got mine, but haven't opened them yet. I'm going to wait until this weekend and I'll install them.

#37 5 years ago

lol... ohhh being in Canada... its like living on another planet...

#38 5 years ago

I did not install the mod over this last weekend. I was looking at the way the power is being tapped into and I believe I have a better (easier) way to do that. Stay tuned and I will post if it worked or not.

That sounds great, would love to see an easier way! Just be sure to test first with a volt meter. The electronics will not tolerate anything over 5V DC.

#40 5 years ago

I had a set back. My plug wouldn't power the mod. I have it powered by a wallwart on the service plug for now.

Is there no 5V at that connector? It sounds like TXJay has an alternate source for powering in any case. How's the mod working for you otherwise?

Yep, I am waiting for a part to come in and then I will hook it up. Once it is done I will let you know what it is. I ordered spares so if it works I can build more and ship it out to others that have the mod.

#43 5 years ago

Wow, nice work dude!

Boys, post some photos once you have yours installed!

#47 4 years ago
