I'm finished but need to fix the beeping issue with two callouts. If anyone knows a thing or two about BSMT2000 send me a PM. I'm putting this on hold for the moment.

Crash,
Thanks for continuing too work on this. It's great that something new can be made for data east using existing hardware.
Like I said, I put it on hold due to issues with a couple of callouts. I have tried to figure it out but have been unsuccessful. I am afraid it could potentially cause annoying problems with the sound. At the moment the two callouts play a high pitched tone for a couple of seconds when the speech is finished playing. If you're cool with that, I will build the patches and upload them. I just can't guarantee stability.
If someone on Pinside knows how PCM sound bites are handled for BSMT2000, please send me a PM so I can fix these issues!

Maybe daudioguy can chime in? If anyone knows the board set intimately, it would be him.

Sorry, I know Data East up to and including Monday Night Football. When Brian Schmidt came in they changed the sound board to use a custom masked TI DSP that Brian cooked up. That is the BSMT2000. I never used it. When I restarted in 2006 it was the 2nd SAM system game POTC. Stern abandoned the notion of a sound board and used the system processor to implement a soft (meaning no audio hardware other than a DAC) audio player.
The challenge in late 80s - early 90s was a lack of ROM. BSMT2000 (speculation) was a sampler synth. You need ROM to hold the samples and during the 90s ROM was still scarce. I tip my hat to Brian and what he accomplished in those days. It was not easy.

Quoted from mrossman5:Would anybody be willing to burn this rom for me?
I can burn roms from images submitted to me.
