Going to pick up Steve Ritchies first pin (any guesses?) $150 in decent shape figured I couldnt pass it up to have a piece of atari history (that was your clue) - even if its not the best playing sure has cool 70's look and playfield

Good luck, finding parts for those Atari machines is a major pain in the butt. They're kinda cool though as they did a lot of things differently.
Gotta love the art on that thing. Its what everything "retro" these days wishes it could be and then some.
Its here - when I brought it in the house the only thing that worked was the lights in the back glass and the credit display. 5 mins later and a few fuse adjustments - lights up,speakers work and all bumpers, flippers etc are fully working - granted it needs some work and some flipper rebuild probably - but the backglass is perfect and the playfield is pretty darn nice for 30 years old - will take some picts tomorrow for the crew. Yes Brokedad its an airborne avenger. The thing is huge by the way LOL, the one thing that doesnt work yet is the score board.
same era machine for sale locally here for 600. The MONSTER slow players.......dam those machines look solid like a tank! Must weigh twice as much as a regular machine?
Yep big and slow - and actually it was pretty light - My buddy and I were surprised and instead of using the hand cart just decided to carry it - My ToM must weigh twice as much. There's really not much to them inside.
Here is the before picts - currently I have spent about 1 hour or so - and it went from doing nothing but the backbox lighting up to now it has sound - scoreboard and everything else is working. Next steps I will rip down the playfield and clean all plastics re-rubber etc - the fun stuff, when I get some time.

let me know what you guys think - not the most fun to play but it is cool looking and cool old atari sounds - I think it was a good deal at $150
$ 0ne-fitty! ohhh makes me want to go out and find something tonight.........
But ... what a great looking game
you might want to write a story on it after you bring it back up to spec. not much info or photos on Atari pins anywhere
so far hasn't cost anything - I think rebuilding the flippers is going to be an issue if I decide to do it - any suggestions? The yhave the weirdest flipper setup I have ever seen, you don't see the coil or anything its encased in this round metal thing I cant seem to get apart.
I think somewhere someone referred to it as "Motor" flippers ???
Is it possible to substitute and entire flipper assembly from say a later model atari or williams etc?
Sorry, can't help you with that. The most I have ever seen of the insides of an Atari pin is this http://marvin3m.com/atari/index.htm
Great find, though. Interesting game being the first Ritchie pin and all!
Super work ! Could you come put the new playfield in my Phoenix that I'm just too lazy to do ? BTW in my teen years I was a major Atari computer hacker/fan. Anyone remember the Atari "Happy Drive" mod ?
I doubt this helps much but I found

He might have some for sale.
Atarians & Airborne Avengers:- These games used "motor" flipper coils and the process to replace the flipper body shell is to loosen the two set-screws that are accessed through the body of the plastic shell at the fattest part of these shells. Counterclockwise to loosen! Then the shell lifts up off the top of the shaft.
