Viagra Boys new album just came out but it didn’t grab me like their last. That happens to me a lot.

Quoted from Kderrick:What new bands are you into? Lately I’ve been playing Amyl and the Sniffers, Tommy and the Commies Wyldlife, Moral Panic, TV Crime, and Don’t Sleep (Dave Smalley’s new band).
Holy shit, someone with actual taste on this board!
Pretty sure you'd enjoy my all time numer one band The White Wires...
Currently listening to a lot of The Dahmers, Nasty Rumours, Cyanide Pills, Virvon/Varvon and will never, ever get tired of all of the Jack Dalrymple bands (One Man Army, Dead to Me, Swingin' Utters). The sweetest voice in all of music.
Quoted from SLCpunk2113:I’m pretty shit at new music but I’ve been listening to IDLES and the Viagra Boys a lot. White Lung. Ice Age but haven’t listened to the newer stuff. I tend to find a band latch onto one album and do a bad job keeping up with new releases.
Yeah I’m old as hell and IDLES is the first band to tickle my treat in a long while. They’re fantastic and “Never Fight a Man With a Perm” is the greatest song title in ages. They don’t want to be called a punk band but they are.

Yeah. I’m not too worried about what anyone calls anything. I just like what I like.

Same here with newer bands. Either I’ll like the album I was first introduced to and the older or newer stuff won’t have the same bite.

Thanks. I’ve heard the Wires and the Pills. I’ll check out the others. 100% agree on the Utters. I like Johnny Peebucks as much as Jack. Toy Guitar it great too.
Quoted from nwpinball:Growing up in the Northwest, one of the bands I saw the most was Poison Idea

Poison idea is amazing
Catching up on this thread. I think people who seek things out gravitate to hobbies where you are engaged or required to seek things out. What I like about pinball is the search for a part, a game, or the knowledge on how to do something. Or barring any of that, just having the balls to jump in and do it. Plus also engaging with people from all walks of life trying to do the same thing. Not to be all hippie about it, but that is what Unites us.
Hardcore and punk it was the same thing. Grinding though zines and record stores for rare records, starting bands, putting on shows, starting or breaking up fights , meeting new and interesting people. I would love to still be doing it, but the scene and life changes and you age out of going to shows.
Nearing 50 I like seeing the same joy in someone’s eyes playing my game at a show as playing some rare record I scrounged from a newsprint fanzine and got in the mail in the 80s to someone who’s never heard it. Of course, not MXV, he knows everything
Quoted from Coindork:Saw these guys at the Crowbar in San Diego in the early 2000s
Good stuff.
Yeah, they were great!
I thought I had this tucked away in my across the pond box somewhere, so had to check Discogs. Not only do I have it, added the release lol.
Killer Hearts new record is great if like that sloppy Dolls/Heartbreakers Rock N Roll. http://fasterandlouderblog.blogspot.com/2021/09/killer-hearts-skintight-electric.html?m=1
FIDLAR's self-titled is probably my favorite album of the last 10 years. Also every Night Birds album is fantastic.
Saw IDLES live in Joshua Tree and some drunk girl pissed on the ground right by the pit and nearly on my boots. Made me feel young again. Great show.
Seven months late, but the death of Jack Terricloth was far and away the worst thing in 2021 World/Inferno will always have a special place in my heart, what a fantastic band
Some good skatepunk classics I've been listening to lately:
Screeching Weasel - Boogadaboogadaboogada
No Use For A Name - The Daily Grind
Great hillbilly punk:
Joe Buck Yourself - Planet Seethe
Never really got into The Exploited, but love this song:
The Exploited - Beat the Bastards
One of my favorite Ramones songs:
The Ramones - Today your love, Tomorrow the world
Fugazi's so good with MacKaye singing:
Fugazi - KYEO
Wish I could caught that live - insane:
Fugazi - Shut the door
Very mellow but love his band The Evens:
The Evens - Get Evens
Not much will get you hyped up like this song:
Madball - Freight Train
Good stuff too:
Agent Orange - Bloodstains
The Queers - You make me wanna puke

Thank you sir. Yeah that Exploited song came up on some Spotify playlist and I thought "Holy shit what is that". Incredibly powerful song. Maybe I ought to dig more into them, I basically know that one and the Ice-T/Slayer cover medley (also another powerhouse of a song).
Will put that on my list.
Quoted from Azmodeus:Not too shabby!

Is there another artist like iggy pop? There is just no other artist like him. His time together with bowie cements his pure legend status, in my mind. Not just because the music is so good, but because this was also a unique capsule in time.
I’ll take an Iggy pop pinball.
I bet he might be interested.
When Black Flag rolled into town in 1984, it was a defining moment for me. I'd never seen a band and crowd explode like they did when they opened with this song. There was a sense of danger that was entertaining as hell. I saw Black Flag again in '85 & 86, but it didn't match the craziness of that first time.

For me it was the Circle Jerks and 7 Seconds in 1988. My friend Darcy got this great pic of a skinhead speaker diving into the crowd. The show was pure chaos and I loved every minute of it.
Holy crap you guys have seen some great stuff in its prime. I've seen the Circle Jerks twice - once about 20 years ago at Warped Tour, the other one opening for Pennywise at El Corazon about 12 years back (know that place nwpinball ?
). Another great live band and great straightforward skatepunk band.
I'm seeing them again in March I think (Circle Jerks).
*Edit: or maybe it was opening for Sick of it all? I know I saw those at El Corazon too - awesome awesome live band.
Experienced Naked Raygun in 87 at a decrepit upstairs dive that had two self-serve taps sticking out of the wall. It was more of a happening than a concert. I thought the floor was going to cave in from the slam dancing.

DRI is my all time favorite band.
THE PARTY'S OVER! DONT YOU DUMMIES EVER UNDERSTAND ANYTHING?!
My fave band (aside from the Sloppy Seconds) The Dickies!
