Happy to be of service.

I've been busy af for many weeks now. Have a few other bands I remember fondly, wanna see if they hold up before posting, haven't had the time.

If you wanna hear some of my crappy music, I'm writing some new punk songs for a new P3 game I'm making called Ranger In the Ruins. I sold all my recording equipment years ago, so this is really budget DIY stuff. I'm excited to be making new music again after a long while away, though. I have a thread here if you're interested in following:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/p3-game-ranger-in-the-ruins

I listened to the X-Ray Spex on loop for a long time in high school as well. Polly Styrene! I've also been listening to a ton of Bad Brains again over the past couple of months. Black Dots is still my favorite album.

Fat Mike makes a strong argument for Bad Religion being the greatest punk band of all time. It's something like this. Put the twenty best bad religion songs up against the 20 best songs of any other punk band. Put that way, it's hard to disagree.
1 no control
2 generator
3 suffer
4 21st century digital boy
5 stranger than fiction
6 los angeles is burning
7 broken
8 american jesus
9 modern man
10 do what you want
11 I want to conquer the world
12 sanity
13 the grey race
14 cease
15 along the way
16 we're only gonna die
17 heaven is falling
18 the kids are alt right
19 operation rescue
20 bad religion theme song
That's off my the top of my head and it took less than 5 minutes. Give me your list of 20 better songs by some other punk band. Game on!

#562 1 year ago

Generator is #1 for me. Fat Mike says a lot of stupid shit lol.

Just seen this post first time n boy am I jacked !!! I’ve played in some popular bands long ago in the Chicago area and this was always my favorite music to play even more than metal .Ill never forget seeing the Sex Pistols when they had the comeback tour in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom I believe .Johnny comes out n says to the crowd “fat,40 and back “ then BOOM right into “bodies”.The place went up like popcorn !To this day tgat was the most electric show I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to a lot !! Slayer was playing the same night down the street at the Riviera (might have those venues backwards) and both crowds met in the street and all he’ll broke loose lmfao!!! Anyway we had a punk band at one time called “stink finger” and opened one night for a popular Chicago band “the pinheads”.Now that I’m into this hobby big time I wonder if they actually took they’re name from pinball.Anyway the only other punk show that compared to tgat night for me anyway was seeing Rancid in the early days .God I wish I could go back sometimes Punk is the shit and the music is made for pinball so when’s it going to happen ??

#566 1 year ago

Going to go back n read this whole tread from the beginning ! This made my day !

#567 1 year ago

Now I’m remembering more lmao ! The night the pistols played there were 2 opening acts reverend Horton heat and that wild Irish band with 20 people on stage drop kick Murphy

#568 1 year ago

I know I’m talking to myself but I’m reliving this show now .The Pistols covered stepping stone that night I just actually found it on YouTube .Im calling in sick tomarro “fuck this and fuck that”......

I got a pinsound board for the soul purpose of putting punk music on my pins. The music is perfect for pinball. Some of my favorites to play to are Sex and Violence, Too Drunk To Fuck, and Rebel Girl.

I feel quite old, decided to pull down the record player and start grabbing some of my old faves (gave all my records away a long time ago). Records are now super expensive.

Found that some of the labels still offer direct orders and some still offer records at like $10-11. Most are $20-40 per.

Subhumans records, except their newest stuff, is way out of print and very expensive. Same with Bad Brains, Born Against, and a ton of other bands I love.

So I've been picking and choosing. Crass apparently had all their albums remastered at Abbey Road in recent years? A bit odd.

Dystopia is putting out The Aftermath on vinyl again after several years OOP. Looking forward to picking up another copy.

Also, my game came out, but my music sucked, so I licensed tracks instead. The world is better off.

Just wanted to stop by and suggest No Dogs In Space for all you podcast lovers. Deep dives into punk history one band at a time. Plus tunes mixed in. It’s my new favorite road tripping go to.

Joking, of course, but I don't do podcasts, at all. The talking puts me to sleep. I'd much rather listen to a great album vs s podcast, every time all the time.
But thanks dude for throwin that out there for those that do!
All I've listened to the last month is the new Incantation...so freaking good. Gotta squeeze in some 1 2 3 4 tonight.
EARTH AD comin up...

#574 1 year ago

Oct 1st obligatory

#575 1 year ago

I don't know what is considered punk or not anymore and I don't really care but I am enjoying IDLES and The Viagra Boys. Also happy listen The Cramps and Misfits month!

#576 1 year ago

Incantation def not punk ha. I'm more of a death metal dude for the past couple decades. Still love both, and love seeing all these bands that everyone throws up (esp Bingo podcast).
Time for some Amebix.

#577 1 year ago

Aww yiss, punk rock is good

#578 1 year ago

Probably my hardest favorite album to pinpoint cause I love all three. Generally it's Earth AD but tonight it's Static.

NSQOTWF is a great compilation of 80s CA punk, for those that haven't listened to it. Many different styles and lots of great bands.

#584 1 year ago

Show isn't over until you hear this … maybe.

#585 1 year ago

Holy shit I just searched and found that Maximum Rock and Roll is still alive. I thought it died in the 90s.

PSA for anyone in the Chicago area. Might be weird hanging around your car but the bill is strong and it’s live fucking music!

I thought I'd post that video because it is a more recent view of what the members of the bollweevils are up to these days. Pretty rad . I've got a FEDs cd with a few members , Not sure how long they were around?

Haha let me get a home equity line of credit real quick. I’ve heard stories about hanging out with Gryszzzz. If you come up i’ll absolutely buy you a bunch as well. I hear they have beer girls cruising up and down the parking lot in golf carts. Can I hire an Über driver to drive my drunk ass home? In my own car.

I just remember them opening up for Naked Raygun all the time along with the Didjits who I wish were on this bill because they were fucking crazy.

Chicago punk scene was churning out some of the best music at that time , It was awesome to see Naked Raygun when they got back together! I had a friend in Jr loader that opened for a few times as well.
