ABDO MEN!!!
LIONMAN!!!

Another one of my favorites. This song is fantastic. Could never remember the name of the compilation it was on, I've been meaning to post this for weeks.

Fear, persuasion, violence, obedience. That's how I got into Cripple Bastards as well.

#460 4 years ago

Italian band, my favorite song by them. They showed up on a few comps I owned. Went to school with a Portuguese exchange student, and he laughed when he got in the car and their first song on the above compilation was playing, "It means, 'Italy of shit'."

Should've posted this in the death metal thread... long standing thrashers that are still kicking. Check out their new stuff https://cianide.bandcamp.com/
Going to see them in March w/Autopsy in Chicago

Quoted from Gryszzz:

Dude. I appreciate the heads up but if yer from Indy, and start a thread titled "Let's Talk About Punk", and don't know the Zero Boys, well, you should just be escorted to KY and dropped off in the OH river. Paul Mahern lives by me man!
I've heard 2/3 of those bands. Thanks for the others.

Yeah- not as much a lesson for you as it was for the peeps checking out this thread. Midwest punk/HC pretty much rules!

Japanese bands FUCKING RULED!!! while most were not all that original, they were great at taking something that existed and supercharging the fuck out of it and making it their own (and ultimately better). I started buying records from Japan around 1985 and was able to really get in on some great stuff that still holds up today. These were some of my faves but by not even the tip of the iceberg for all of the AMAZING stuff that came out of Japan

Cleveland was always a smoldering pit of bad attitudes and loud guitars. Electric Eels, Dead Boys, Pagans, Pere Ubu were some of the earliest punks. My favorite era was the late 80's into the mid 90's. This era brought back some real danger. Not only the music being put out but that scene in general was as scary as it was fun. I got to go to a lot of shows and be friends with a ton of nutballs there. These were some of my faves-

Let’s not forget about Columbus, Ohio’s finest - The New Bomb Turk’s. If you’ve never listened to them, check them out. Destroy Oh Boy! is a punk classic. Early Gaunt is also worth checking out. RIP Jerry Wick.

Anyone play in a punk band?

Here's mine, although maybe more post-punk than punk: https://jjcnv.bandcamp.com/

Mau Maus. Often overlooked, but great band from Sheffield.
The Pax RecordsEPs are classics. (*formatting)

#471 4 years ago

Instant Agonyalso put out a couple of excellent EPs. Here's one of them.

#472 4 years ago

One more British band: Fallout. For me, their best release is their self-titled EP.

Post punk? Proto punk? Emo? Fuck yer labels. This is my wintertime goto. Got into them 15 years ago cause they're from Marshalltown IA and as a hod carrier for 10 years, that's what all my brick tongs were stamped with. Marshalltown.
And this is one of the best versions of an old ass tune.
Stagger Lee

#476 4 years ago

And I have a soft spot for Midwest bands.
The best.

#477 4 years ago

This album is my wintertime goto has been for 15 years.

#478 4 years ago

IMO the best punk song sang by a woman. Fantastic lyrics too about the riots in England in 1981.

#479 4 years ago

The majestic Angelic Upstarts.

So many great bands arose in the Second Wave of punk in the UK. Chron Gen - Outlaw

#482 4 years ago

Possibly my favourite punk/skin song ever. The Business - National Employer’s Blacklist

We have a punk on location here in pgh. I make it a point to give it some love when I'm there. Hardest left hand lock shot I have ever come across.

I love Bad Brains too. Saw them as a teen.

What do you think of your Punk! game? I might have an opportunity to pick up one. I know the theme and music is cool but how about the gameplay?

Quoted from Gryszzz:

I see the Asheville asshole quota is still filled.
If you're looking for good taste I think you're in the wrong place. Go make a fuckin tie dye like everybody else there.

typical midwest goon verbage

have you ever been to asheville? recently?
The Asheville punk scene is very active with lots of bands and venues.
no tye dye needed,

#486 4 years ago

It's verbiage.
And way to prove my point by slandering an entire region of the country.
Go back to being a pretentious Asheville cock. You obviously excel at it.

Not an owner but I have a lot of time on it. Really plays like any other early ss gottleib 80a. Depends on what you are use to/like. It has 2 captive ball locks. Upper left is a bitch. Only made it 1 time on a backhand shot. Usually I bounce it into that lock from the right side upper flipper. Right lock is not to hard.

If I could own one I would just for the theme. Board wise nothing special. Plastics i imagine would be hard to come by.

Thanks for your Punk! feedback, Mtkst19

I'm a big fan of 1979-1981 classic Sterns. (See my collection.) Think I'll like this play?

I'm due for a visit to the UK in the next year or two and a stop at the Rebellion Festival is so tempting.

Anybody been to it? Looks like a great time!

There's no apologies here. But I'm done with my juvenile insults.
I noticed you've been here for 9 years, and I'm kinda old school with the whole 'respect your elders' thing. Let me get back to doing that.
I will say Asheville is one of the most amazing and picturesque cities I've ever been to.
Here's to your scene.

verbage is slang for words and text
verbiage is defined as too many words

All Good

I don't know why you came at me by trashing my town and making judgements on my character, when all I did was compliment another posters taste, as they were similar to mine currently. I love all punk and been playing in a hardcore band and running a diy label for over 20 years. I respect your opinions and apologize to people of the midwest for my callous comment.

Last time i checked it was the punks vs the world, we should focus on the big picture and not get caught up on nuanced sub genres and how they separate us in the wide world of punk.

if we can rock together
we should walk together

up the punks

Looking at your list I think you would like it. I know you would have no problem selling it if you didnt so no brainer either way.

Place that has it on location also has 290 other pins. I make it a point to play everything. It doesn't really play like any other game from this era.

#494 4 years ago

Thanks for your feedback, @mtkst19. And sounds like I should make the roadtrip to try that location one day!

Lemmy just say that 36 days without some fresh shit from Bingopodcast is WAY too fucking long.

Although SurlyOldPunk turned me onto Lip Cream. Grazie.
Been listenin to the fuck outta them.

#497 4 years ago

Lip Cream. Japanese maniacs from 88.
Hard af WOW.

#498 4 years ago

Chinese punk - their songs are on the poppy side. This is my fave.

Been busy programming pinball, but listening to punk while I do so.

#499 4 years ago

Old shit from the 70s.

The Japanese bands from that era were brutal. Lip Cream, Gastunk and the notorious GISM were reached legendary status for us in the UK in the late 80s. Showed us the further extremes that the Japanese could take things. They did that again in the noise scene with Merzbow, Masonna, Gerogerigegege, etc. Wild stuff!
