I always really enjoyed the artwork on GTB late 70s/early 80s stuff. I'm thinking Asteroid Annie and the Aliens. Always thought that was a beautiful backglass and PF. You can get really creative with space/cosmic/alien/futuristic sci-fi themes. Can pretty much take it in any direction you'd want to go and it would be all "believable" in that world.

I love fantasy themed things too. Mythical beasts like dragons, barbarians, wizards, etc. It might be going into "nerdy" territory, but one could argue that the majority of pinball enthusiasts sit in that category anyways

So based on your poll right now, you have mythical underwater beasts that can travel through space and time...checks out.

We could call it Hot Tub Time Machine...Done! Let's move to layout

    Quoted from lpeters82:

My favorite features of 80s games are in-line drop targets, drop target banks, and spinners.

Yes same! Exposed pop bumpers for sure. Maybe double flippers (ala Paragon, Harlem Globetrotters, or Alien Poker)

    Quoted from arcademojo:

I'll second that!! Just don't see the point since you can make the shots with the normal flippers.

It's not about making certain shots from the double flippers, it's about the threat that the gap creates! No trapping, just solid flipper skills from that side.

    Quoted from arcademojo:

That's fine and dandy until you have to pay for a flipper rebuild on these games.

I have. And it's not a huge deal.
    4 flippers on Paragon
    3 flippers on Flash Gordon
    2 flippers on Frontier

If folks are interested, here's the bare-bones screenshot of the game in its current form.

Looks great! Just my $.02 I think the ball will stay up in the left pops area too long, especially if it enters from the top. If the pop is too close to a rubber, the ball tends to rapid fire back and forth off of that rubber and into the pop. I might remove the bands on the right of the pops and move the bottom pop into that area. You could construct a through-pops shot to the upper left area and also create a space that the pops could cause drains. Cool seeing the theoretical thread turn into a development thread!
