I can take a selfie next to his gravestone in Waukesha, WI (aka "Guitar Town")?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but these are pretty cool & made really well.

I just looked it up and that's "Spring City". Now Fullerton Ca., that's guitar town.

Les Paul is obviously a well known icon around Waukesha, has his own road through town named after him and an exhibit at the city museum.

We've got the same thing here with Leo Fender. I know Les Paul did it first, but you've got to love them both.

I've got a Les Paul, but it won't fit in your pinball machine.

The telecaster pre-dates the Les Paul by a few years, right? 1950 vs 1952

I think Les Paul amplified his hollow body first, but for solid bodies, didn't Leo get the Esquire/Broadkaster out first?

You may be right. It looks as if Fender created a prototype solid body in 1943 and released it in 1949. Les Paul took his solid body "The Log" to Gibson in 1946 but they were not sold on it until after Leo's hit the market. Rickenbacker was the first company to manufacture a working electric guitar.

What I do know is there is a dive bar called The Fender Bender on Fender Ave. staggering distance from my house, but the old guitar factory that was there is long gone.

Growing up, it was "Spring City" [1], but in 2013 they decided on "Guitar Town" and littered the city streets with over-sized guitar replicas.

That's pretty cool. It looks like The Fender Bender has been replaced by The Swigbar.

But we've still got this-
