Having an issue with an intermittent left sling that cuts out the sound. Looks like the board has been worked on before on that transistor and not a very good job. Assuming it’s a CSJ, or bad transistor, diode, etc. but what’s up with the sound cutting out when I ground the transistor? Ideas appreciated...

I checked the sling diodes initially and they tested good but I’ll try again after I fix this repair and clean the board and report back. Thanks!

I was thinking maybe the carbon buildup on the board could be an issue so I pulled the board today and decided to try and clean up the old repair. I’ll change the coil diode if that doesn’t fix it.

So I decided to just replace the coil diode and that worked a short time, and seemed to fix the sound issue so now I’ve decided to go ahead and repair the board and swap out the transistor. Any other ideas if that doesn’t work?

Turned out to be a bad diode and bad transistor.
