we have a xmen, when you hit left flipper it stays up until you hit right flipper button, then the left will release. Any ideas for me to check? thanks

Had this happen on my Mustang ... turned out to be a bad flipper stop where the center core came loose and had to be replaced.
In fact BOTH of them did this after about 5-6 months. Bad parts from the factory.
So see if your core is loose. one possibility... another might be a cracked coil sleeve

ok will ck, why does it release when right flipper is hit? just the vibration? thanks
Can also be a loose screw on the coil stop. Same basic reason, the coil stop is shifting enough to bind the flipper plunger in the coil, and the right flip, nudges it back so the spring can pull it back to the original position. Definitely mechanical binding in either the screws holding coils stop or the broken coil stop. Might be a melted coil from a shorted coil that didn't blow the fuse - but highly unlikely on a newer era game. I've had several newer games though, where the screws weren't tight and even fell out - three different games,
I had one that was doing this, took me forever to figure it out. I had filed the flipper button switches, and there was a fine dust from the filings on the bakelite between the leafs... so get this, it would make electrical contact just enough to keep the flipper 'up' when you let go of the button!
If you hit the other flipper, I guess it pulled enough power over to that flipper that the dust wasn't electrically sound enough to keep the other flipper energized, and the flipper would drop back down.
This was on an old machine though, so I doubt it's the problem on an Xmen!
