Went out on a tech call for a guy that just picked up a Whitewater and the topper wasn't working. Didn't take too long to figure out what the problem was:

The previous owner had added LEDs to everything but evidently didn't know that the topper took different light bulbs.

Looked like a bad day at the dentist!

Luckily the sockets held up ok - was able to put the correct incandescent bulbs in and everything worked again.

I wonder if they went off like popcorn ?

Man I hate f'ing LEDs, worst mod that can be done to a game.

More power than the bulb is designed to handle.

Quoted from bigehrl:

what caused that???

Putting a 6 volt thing in a 12 volt socket.

Nice to know that the machine was not harmed

The topper lamp voltage is closer to 20V. And because the lamps are on for more than a 1/10th of a second, even the higher rated "flasher" LEDs will most likely burn out as well.

Best to stick with 194's like it was designed for.

Too funny. I actually just did that. I had my wh20 for a year and knew they were 12 v but for so e reason had a brain fart and put a colored led in mine tonight and melt.

Weird they used 12 v instead of 5555
