I put LED's in my BOP and I am very pleased with the results. It was also the first time I have worked or done anything to my pinball machines since I know nothing about electronics. I think I may step up and try shopping it out next but will wait awhile before I do it so I can research how to best do that.

Here are 2 videos I took to show the results, I used cointakers kit.

Very nice. I have BOP as well and I am pleased with the look of that kit!

yeah, the bride really shines with led's

I agree, with the exception of the helmet lamps. I found those to cause terrible strobing for me, as well as ruining the chase effect. I went with blue incandscent bulbs, which are quite dim by comparison, but still a good effect.

Very nice. I like LEDs in all my games.

I really like BOP and now it looks even better.

I also like Leds in my BOP.....but it is a pain to shop....the face in particular.

Picking up our Bride today. I'm giddy with excitement!

alveolus - I like the helmet lights but you are right they are definitely bright.

I havent yet been able to get the billion point shot. How do I accomplish this? I have spun the wheel and landed on the billion point shot. I even made it through the ramp a couple times during the countdown but can't get the billion points awarded.

Frosted white ghostbusters should take care of the seizures...
Cointaker Retros would be a good match for BOP as well.
Like my previous posts- the kits are just a springboard.
Using your eyes is always the best method to achieve LED Nirvana!

Have you checked the switches on the heartbeat ramp to make sure they are registering? I also had some switch wires switched when I picked up my Bride where the made heartbeat ramp was wired to the mini-playfield exit.

Can someone verify this for me? I know ghostbusters address ghosting, but do they help with the strobing effect due to the power cycling and improve the flickering effect with dimming?

I'm pretty sure they don't but I am not at home to verify.

Did you use superbrights under the inserts?

#14 12 years ago

I use combinations from cointaker, pinball life, BCs pinball. I'm not terribly bothered by ghosting, but the strobing and flickering sometimes really annoy me.

I've never been bothered by strobing, but it is my understanding that the only LEDs that are specifically designed to address this issue are the Noflix ones from Pinballcenter:

alveolus - I will check to make sure, I thought the switches were working but I guess I haven't paid that close attention.

I fixed my link to the videos above too.
