Have you gotten to ? yet? I was telling a buddy yesterday that it’s impossible.

No I have not. Maybe one of the reasons it doesn’t get old. That combined with the fact that I love building up the multipliers and cashing in during big multiballs. My biggest point game - over 3 billion. I drained after mothership. But I had a 35 x going during mothership.

Yep and machines it’s outlasted are Jurassic park, black knight sword of rage and ninja turtles. I was waiting to see if I liked it before I invested in pinwoofer. I think I’ll go ahead with it. It’s a safe bet I’ll keep it.

Hey Drussksu ! You'll love the outcome and join tons of guys who now have epic audio!

I would say it’s impossible with EBs turned off

With extra balls I’ve gotten it a few times. Super cool mode.

Wow, thats a monster. You can also play this game so many different ways. My biggest game was 1.4b and I got to top of the charts but wasn’t even close to getting every song to platinum. I think I finished with like 65 records and the minimum for ? would be 100. That was like a 45 minute game and I’m really only 2/3rds of the way to the end.

Ok guys, working on a new LZ translite. Let me know what you think. If there is a part you don't like, please give me some ideas or images, etc. to replace it with. I may do another version with some live LZ images. Thanks for the assistance![quoted image]

Center image is good. I would keep the Hermit and put it full length on each side facing in, and eliminate the other images.

The forks in our premium aren’t quite going down all the way causing some air balls and balls changing paths. What is the cause and or fix?

Joined the club yesterday with a Premium. Had a leaf switch issue and quick shooter rod adjustment out the box that I was able to troubleshoot and fix with a little help. Couldn't be happier to add this pin to the collection. Absolutely a blast to shoot. Couple of friends in the hobby said this was a boring pin due to lack of toys and not a bunch of mechs. Nothing could be further from the truth! Love it. Cheers!

Balls rolling over the electric magic are bumpy and changing directions slightly, anyone have this issue or know how to adjust the device so it’s flush with the playfield?

You need better pinball friends. One day people will wake up and realize what a great game LZ is, and a fitting end to Steve Ritchie’s legacy at Stern.

No Stairway?

Stairway (resized).jpgStairway (resized).jpg
#8866 4 months ago

Stairway opens too slow and soft to match the high energy of a pinball shooter like LZ, IMO. Same with Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You. Great songs, but they don't explode from the first note with a driving rhythm the way the songs on the Zep machines do.

If there were a Lynyrd Skynyd machine I don't think it would have Free Bird on its playlist for the same reason. Not unless it just jumps ahead ten minutes into the song.

#8867 4 months ago

The one song I wish was on there was Houses of the Holy. That's my personal favorite and a lot probably don't know it by name, but they know when they hear it. I guess that's probably true for a lot of their best tunes.

Stairway could have been a wizard mode that is timed and picks up at the uptempo part of the song.

The song I wish was in the game is dazed and confused.

A little help please. My left plunger/crank assembly broke, pic below. My machine has approximately 3800 games played. My questions are the following;

1) Should all three plunger assemblies be replaced or just the broken one?

2) While I’m in there should I replace all three coils? (Coil stops have already been replaced)

3) Anything else I should replace in the flipper assembly?

All help/advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance

Replacing an undamaged coil is ALWAYS a complete waste of time and money.

I wouldn’t bother replacing any of the other stuff that isn’t broken as long as it looks good.

Rebuilding flippers isn’t a big deal. Not much to gain by just “doing it All at once” If you don’t have fo.

Agree that replacing coils that are working is a complete waste of time and money. Disagree about replacing only the broken plunger. 3800 is a fair amount of games. Those links don't break very often like that. I would replace the plunger and link assy, the coil sleeve, and the coil stop on BOTH lower flippers. Optionally you may or may not want to also do the upper flipper. They are not expensive parts and they are the most important parts of the entire pinball machine.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Based on CrazyLevi’s opinion I already decided to forgo changing any of the coils at this time.

I ordered three new plunger & links and even if I just change the broken one at least I have the others on hand in the event they do break.

Regarding the coil stops & sleeves I replaced those on all three flippers @ the 2000 plays mark as the OEM coil stops had already failed.

I am about to join the club. I am getting a premium, read the rules watched a lot of videos and loving the rules even more! Question to you all or whoever minds sharing thier opinion is what is it that has you coming back for more. I have a Iron Maiden and GNR which both games are bolted and I LOVE. The music and rules integration on those two for me are top notch. I think my toughest challenge is getting over the playfield artwork, curios if it grows on you. I will have the topper and shaker and plan to get the side armor for it. any other needed mor loved mods I should try to nail down. Sounds like pitch is 7.0 to 7.2 which is most my games. In summarry I feel the rules will have me coming back just curios on other thoughts.

I really don’t know how you could get bored with it, maybe if you can’t stand the music or just dont like playing pinball. It is perfectly balanced

I have Maiden and GnR, too. Both top notch and bolted to the floor in my collection as well. Zeppelin is just a pure shooter to me. Nowhere near the toys and mechs as IM and GnR as you know, but it doesn't make it less of a machine in my opinion. It's just fun as hell to shoot when you get the combos going and in my opinion has way more flow and not as deep a rule set as IM and GnR which some people may like. I don't think you'll be at all disappointed in your purchase. Plus having a Steve Ritchie game in your collection ain't a bad thing!

#8881 3 months ago

I highly recommend getting the ninjacamp mods for the expression lighting. Get all 3 (undercab, speaker and backbox). Then get a rocking game going in a dark room and choose Kashmir! I also recommend external volume control so, you can turn it up on the fly when a good ball hits.

I think the expression lights are a must for this one. People also love the topper with the spotlight, otherwise they all go to the other 3 machines. Granted it's not a fair fight with Godzilla, IMDN, and FF... I love it because of the pro artwork / LZ III and didn't get the side armor to detract from it.

Pinwoofer with upgraded speakers before anything else. Substance over style.

The playfield art fits nicely with the psychedelic video assets. And the relative simplicity and authenticity of the art has grown on me. The whole game (art, layout, toys, lighting, rules) is refreshing IMO versus the overload of many other machines - it’s a players game.

First of all, congratulations! Expression Lighting takes this game to another level, as the lights are coded with the music and really add that x-factor to the mood of the game. If it doesn’t have the EL then I wish you good luck finding an EL kit right now…I’ve been on the hunt for quite some time. Out of stock for months.
The playfield art will grow on you…the colors are very vibrant and rich, and IMO the style of the artwork makes the machine feel like an old-timey throwback. I like having machines that look completely different from one another, and LZ certainly checks that box!
Overall this game is simple in a good way. I think it plays a lot like a Ritchie title from his Williams sys 11 days. Great layout that flows with a lot of speed. Just a great title to flip and not have to think a ton about the rules. Hit your combos and do what it tells you…simple and fun. Bob Baffy’s sound package on this game with Brendan Small doing the callouts is one of the oft-overlooked parts of this game. The sound effects are in this game are off-the-charts amazing…another reason to put good speakers in it. When you’ve got the volume cranked and you’re hitting shots the sound package is the icing on the cake.
Good replacement speakers and an external sub (or Pinwoofer system) are a must, if you like LZ music. That being said, I played one with stock speakers and an external sub and it worked well enough to draw me in and convince me that I had to have one someday.
100% players game that a lot of folks will regret not buying when they were reasonably priced!

I want to thank you all for you feedback, its super helpful! It will have the Expression lights and after reading your comments, Saturday cant come fast enough. I am holding off on ordering pinwoofer for it has a Flipper fidelity speaker package which I am not familiar with. I want to hear it first, however all my pins have a pin woofer so I just may end up swapping that out!

I had Flipper Fidelity in my Spider-Man and I was pleased with the sound quality. It maybe could’ve had a little more oomph to the subwoofer at lower volume, but overall it was a good-for-the-money solution. I don’t ever really crank up the volume super high on my pins though. I think you’re going to be pleased with LZ as a complement to the other pins in your collection. Totally different vibe and speed. Take the time during your games to observe the programming of the lights to the music, it’s really very clever. Cheers!!

IM is one I would love to own next to my LZ but totally different play styles as others have said. LZ is one of the most balanced games I've played in a long time. If your score is average 10-20 million you'll most likely stay there for a long time. It took me almost a year to get to 1 billion point game and still have yet to complete all 10 songs platinum or get the ? mode though I've gotten close!

The flow on the game can either be super fast and smooth or straight chopping wood into the blue dampers. Just depends on what mood I'm in and how well I'm playing but some days I just have to turn it off and walk away then others I'm doing 500 -900 mil games back to back to back.

Lack of toys?.. Sure. But honestly the EM spinner with EM multiball is one of my favorite multiballs in pinball. LZ is one of my favorite bands of all time and while I love the music I have heard these 10x songs almost too much at this point but I still love it. May swap songs out at some point just to change it up a bit.

I really wish that loop back ramp was in the pro. Would be so much more fun to hit that and keep the flow going instead of hitting a dead end. I didn't do a deep dive but I thought I remembered somebody doing a ramp mod for that shot. I may have to look it up.

I had the pleasure of trying this ramp out a few weeks ago and it is well designed. Autoplunger launched straight to it and it was so smooth. Nice to have another shot with the upper flipper on the Pro.

#8894 3 months ago

That's a game changer for the Pro model! Well done!

#8895 3 months ago

The Hermit Ramp integrates the standup target to register the shot just as in the stock game. The target is in the same spot so it will still register the odd ricochet that goes in that area as it does in the stock gameplay. I spent countless hours optimizing the geometry to allow for seamless integration.

Ball launch is not designed to go into the Zep/Hermit shot. It should go into the LED stand-ups, preferably the D target. The guide coming out of the shooter lane is adjustable.

Odd thing is happening. My lower right flipper is all of a sudden regularly getting stuck in the up position while playing and the only way to get it back down is to hit the left flipper button.

I’m not too experienced in flipper adjustments - is this a common thing as they star to wear?
I’ve never messed with my leaf switches.
Any tips appreciated. Thank you!

#8898 3 months ago

It’s a little hard to tell from the picture do you have a close-up of the target and how it meshes with the ramp? I imagine it just hits it on the way up through the loop? It looks awesome.

Check the cabinet for gold dust, if so replace the coil stop.

Yep! Definitely see some gold and black dust in the front of the cab. Just watched a YouTube video. My first step will be replacing the stop. Thank you for the education Sullivcd40!
