Yeah, and when a match is awarded I think the only way to tell is that the light strand on the right of the display blinks red. On my turtles one of them say something about matching but on this LZ there’s no such audio notification unless it is a setting i need to turn on.

Can someone please help this newbie with my question. I purchased a set of plastic protectors, clear. I assume these go under the plastics? Correct? Do the washers stay or go? Remove the plastic, add the protector, and then place the plastic back in place on top of the protector. Thanks in advance!

Plastic protectors usually go under the plastics. You can then safely remove the washers (or keep them if you want even more protection I guess). They look so much better without the ugly washers causing big round shadows on the plastics. For some of my games without protectors available, I simply swap out the stock washers with the clear plastic ones that Pinball Life sells. Big improvement and still gives protection. Honestly that's probably all that is needed in most cases.

Joined the club this week with a premium! Man the art is a huge, stark contrast with the rest of my machines (in a good way)! The gameplay is just so damn good. I would rank it right up there with Steve Ritchie's best machines. And the code is amazing. Just super well thought out, unique, and well executed. It makes me sad that this game doesn't get more respect as in my opinion it's top tier all around and the team should be very proud of it. My wife and daughter both really enjoy it too, and it's not too often my wife gets excited about playing. She took to it right away, same as I did. There's just something about this one, and I'm not even a huge Zeppelin fan (they are fine, but it's not one that I am drawn to on theme alone).

My wife refers to the Electric Magic as the drive-thru car wash. I think that's going to stick, LOL!

Very few issues out of the box on this one...must less than average. My left scoop switch needed a wire resoldered (was very intermittent and barely holding on), and I gave the flippers a little adjustment as they were a bit tight against the playfield bushings (wasn't affecting the flipper strength, but didn't want it getting worse). It's an early build, but so far zero issues with the Electric Magic. Most satisfying spinner I have ever ripped! No rejects from the saucers. Total win in my book!

Happy to be in the club with this hugely underrated machine!

Anyone experience the swing bracket thing from the plunger come loose? This past week it happened to me for the first time but has happened 3 times now. Do I need to adjust the plunger power or something?

Loving the game, not yet good enough to implement the Kashmir strategy. High score was hovering at 195m for a while, then broke to 265m and yesterday somehow got 434m. Probably all pure luck and due to getting multiballs.

Yes. I think it's common. It's really soft metal so just bend it outward so that there's more force holding it in place

#6407 2 years ago

I tried just bending it outward but it didn't get fixed until I bent the straight end down so it couldn't possibly move out of the bracket.

That was my first fix, and it worked pretty well, but….

Ok... I have a new task when I get home....

By the way Swampfire... I just bought the Big Ben because of you. This group is dangerous to me spending money.

I can’t imagine the game without it now. Even my pinball-skeptical wife said it was worth the $.

So the SDS sheet indicates this has a petroleum based oil mixture of 20-40%. I seem to remember petroleum not being good for clear coats and plastics over time. Do a search on petroleum in the forums and do some reading on this. I could be wrong , but I don’t know that it’s something you want to use…

I’m intrigued, but I’ll check back in a year to see how your game is doing. For now, I’m okay with being punished for mediocre shots. I had a friend over to play a few nights ago and he was hitting the ramp shots over and over, including the Zeppelin ramp. And he’s about the same level as me, as far as our league goes.

#6415 2 years ago

Friend of mine kept swearing how wd-40 kept his shotgun running smoothly. Until it gummed up so bad, was a nightmare to clean, and left some ugly stains. Hope it works out for ya

Has anyone experienced an issue with the ball eject during multi-ball? Several times I’ve been playing and I can hear the auto plunger going off but there is no ball in the trough. I can here the eject make an attempt but the ball doesn’t make it to the trough. Is my ball eject set to low possibly? Maybe an obstruction? Thank you for any thoughts or suggestions.

Do you have a shooter lane protector? Mine will hang up on it occasionally

Not at the moment but one is in the mail. Which shooter lane protector do you have?

From mezel. Dont put the tab under it to hold in place. Not needed and it does raise the entry slightly

Thanks for the tip, I’ll try it out. Still leaves me with my issue on the ball eject during multi-ball. Not sure if it will make a difference but I am going to increase the power of the eject to see if that solves the problem. I set it very low until I could get the protector installed. Not sure if that’s the issue though, ball eject seems to work fine when it’s not multi-ball. Just speculation on my part, but would the ball eject act differently when four balls are on the playfield? Less weight on the next ball to be ejected (only 2 balls in the que instead of 3,4,5,6)?

I wipe down my PFs n balls every 20-30 plays anyway .There’s no chance that small amount I used will damage the clear .I’ll revisit in one year

Yes, check for magnetized balls. If they are slightly magnetized, one or two in the trough might not roll down smoothly. But the weight of 5 or 6 will work.

#6424 2 years ago

There seems to be an odd overly loud "knocking sound" when a ball is ejected from the left Tour Multiball scoop. Does anyone else hear anything like that?

Thanks! my search wasn't returning this post, I'll tackle this at some point now that I know it's not something major.

My pinballs feed out of the trough okay, but I've seen them bounce back and get stuck at the top of the trough exit. Anybody seen this?

Try turning down trough eject. Mine is set to the minimum

I have a LZp on loan and almost bought the mod because of the paint job he did, but I just decided to buy the paint and figure out how to make other stuff look that cool.

I turned it down some, it still happens on rare occasion. I'd rather solve the cause than the symptom, know what I mean? It's basically a stucky ball spot.

Update: 160 seems to be 100% for me so far. The minimum (64) didnt even move the plunger!

#6432 2 years ago

Can you all remind me what to use to lubricate Icarus? I am having trouble finding something that keeps it working for more than a few games.

By minimum I meant the minimum it takes to eject. Sorry,

You don't need to lube it. There's an adjustment on the top of the playfield for the slotted piece it goes through. Make sure that hasn't come lose and you have good clearance and smooth action, then retighten.

Yeah... Someone here suggested increasing the power on that coil. I was having the same problem. I upped it a little and now it shoots right down in from of the sling.

I had the drop target rubber break last night so I have placed an order for Titan rubbers, which will probably come this week and I am planning to replace all of the rubbers with Titans. Since this is my first machine that I am doing any work on, would anyone recommend I do any other work while I am getting into the playfield and replacing all of the rubbers? Thanks for any advice.

#6438 2 years ago

I'd put plastic protectors under the slings and give the whole field a good cleaning and wax. I've also found a few loose posts, not bad, but definitely needed tightening.

Nice. Good thinking. I just cleaned it probably 30 games ago but I think I will throw some protectors on.

I’m about to admit to some of my failings as an adult human being, things I’m not particularly proud of.

First, I procrastinate. Second, if something is well enough I generally leave it alone. I don’t particularly like tweaking with things, especially things I just want to enjoy in the here and now.

So…. my machine has rattled from some of the sounds and the bass from my subwoofer since the beginning. I just dealt with it because I know it’s not hurting anything and I’d rather just play the game than mess with it. But it’s finally getting on my nerves.

It seems it’s the playfield glass vibrating against something (the rails holding it in I guess). Anyone have any experience with this issue and know a solution? I attempted to put sticky felt on the ends of the glass but that just made for a tight squeeze, some of it came off when putting it back in, and it didn’t seem to have any effect anyhow.

my glass is so tight it cant vibrate but if it did i would use the tape that came with my pinwoofer setup that goes all along the glass channels.Atleast I think it was pinwoofer

I was at Harbor Frieght tools about a month ago and finally picked this up for 8 bucks.
Worth every penny, my glass is so tight I struggled to get it out before my suction cup device.

That PDI non glare glass shows smudges at the edges, this will make clean up a breeze when the glass has to come off.
