12V LED strip will work. Comet's martix are pre-wired, plugged, and ready to go.

You can also get RGB strips and then pick the color(s) you want to use by bridging or connecting ground to those channels: ebay.com link: SUPERNIGHT Non Waterproof RGB 5050 SMD 5M 300 LED Strip Light 12V Black PCB
I've used these for various lighting effects by connecting to flasher circuits (backbox, playfield, cabinet effects).
