    Hello,

I've always bought LED's dedicated for pinball machines but today I found the shop which sells LED's for cars.
I'm not really experienced pinball owner that's why I'd like to ask you whether they can be used in pinball machines.
I made some photos, can you advise something?
    Thanks a lot!

These are 12V bulbs and could probably be used as flashers if they physically fit. Not for inserts or GI lighting.

Well, first, those are pretty expensive.

A few comparable bulbs can be found with pinball suppliers at a much better price.

    For example: https://www.cometpinball.com/collections/12v-bulbs

As for being automotive--the three things you just need to look for are the voltage, socket type, and if they're a multi-function bulb like for a tail light.

the prices on those are in Polish Zloty, which is about 5 ZT/ 1 USD. so they're actually on par, or a little bit cheaper than US suppliers. Factor in shipping to Poland, and they're way cheaper. So it really boils down to if they work, and how they perform.

Hah, I completely missed that it wasn't USD.

Automotive bulbs are always DC-voltage only, usually 12volts. For pinball machines, you have a mix; some AC voltage, some DC voltage, some 5v, some 6.3 volt and some higher, 12v and 20v. Many older EM machines use AC voltages, and even some newer machine use AC as well for GI bulbs. The reason this matters is a DC LED bulb will not work very well in an AC socket. Keep in mind that most of the bulbs in any Pinball machine, new or old, are 5v or 6.3v, and putting a 12v bulb in will be very dim.

Indeed, the Pinball LED Business evolved from the Automotive.
However 6.3V are tailored to Pinball.
Some 12V will work, but you may have to reverse them in a socket.
In the case of Metal Bayonets, this can be a problem.

Thank you guys for all the information.

I was naive thinking that I can use those LED's for my pinball machines.
Using some of them I wouldn't cause any defect of the machine but the final effect would be not satisfied (will be very dim).

    Take care, best regards!
