I've seen some other posts specifically about the controlled lamps in SM and which LEDs work well but I don't remember the specifics, might want to search the other LED OCD threads for it.
As for what LEDs do work well in general with these boards, I have used both (LED and GI OCD) with Comet's "retro" style LEDs and I really like it. I prefer the incandescent look so it's perfect for me.
