Thought one of these LED liquor displays would look sweet on my bar. But then checked prices, and holy shit! What a ripoff! $500+ for what is essentially a set of small wood steps, plexiglass and a $25 LED kit from Amazon.

So simple to build, so that's what I did. Here's pics for you guys to check out if you want to build your own. LED kit has a remote control too and can cycle through all different colors and flashing patterns.

Checking fit after painting and before cutting plexi for shelves. Then installing the LED lighting. The installing the clear plexi which I covered with a diamond patterned shelf paper that diffuses the LED lights nicely and prevents from seeing inside the stand.

I've always wanted to do something similar, but block out ALL the light so it only shines through the bottle and make Nuka-Cola bottles so they glow (Fallout reference)

Looks fantastic, and I like your whole bar. I wish I'd done a built-in like that; ours is a standalone.

    #13 10 years ago

Looks great. thanks for the pics. I ask going to do one also.

    #14 10 years ago

Thanks for the compliments on it. Very satisfying to build something on the cheap, that looks wicked cool and that costs a boatload retail.

Was very inexpensive and would've been even cheaper if I didn't use oak plywood. Was planning to stain it to match the bar, but decided black pain looked way better. So could've used cheaper plywood, but even the oak was just a few bucks more.

I'll post pics of my bar construction if anyone is interested.

    #16 10 years ago

Nice work - really sets the bar off. I'll have to file that away for when i finally setup my game room.

    #17 10 years ago

Crown front and center. As well it should! Bravo. Nicely done!

    #19 10 years ago

I would like to see the bar pics. I may build one versus buying something.

    #20 10 years ago

Nice Job! It looks fantastic! Thanks for the pics and tips.

I looked for the PDFs I had for bar plans last night and couldn't find them. But think they might be on a backup drive. I didn't use them, but if I find them I'll throw them up on Dropbox and share the link.

Def think about building yours vs buying. It's unreal how expensive a bar can be versus building it yourself. Plus when you have friends and family over to drink and play games, very satisfying showing them what you built instead of bought.

Keep on eye out on CL though. I did before I built and there are always bars available for cheap because of people moving and what not.

    #23 10 years ago

Cool, I have to make some steps, and never thought of something like that, I will use this!

    #25 10 years ago

Well done. The step by step is so cool that anyone could build it. Bargain bar does not look like a bargain bar at all. Thanks for sharing.

    #26 10 years ago

    Booze steps. Very nice!

    #27 10 years ago

    eXpecially for a $450ish savings.

Looks sweet. What did you put on the front faces of the 2x4's behind the bar? I was thinking of doing a jukebox on a touchscreen but could not find software that I liked. Which one did you use?

I think I used strips of pine, maybe 1x3 or whatever it took to cover the exposed 2x4s. Most likely was wood I had left over and sitting in my shed. Then just stained it to match the bar.

I use E-Touch jukebox software. Only $35 and full support, forums and continuing upgrades and improvements are always being made. Also you can pay a few $$ extra for access to a members area with many more skins available.

Let me know if you go ahead with your project. You can mail me a hard drive and I'll copy my music, database, fan art, etc for you. So all the configuring will be done and you can just add your additional music.

Need two monitors if you plan on having it also be a video jukebox. But only one monitor needs to be a touchscreen, the second monitor is for videos and karaoke.

    #30 10 years ago

Ok thanks. How does the video part work? Do you need to download videos from Web then this just sorts them out?

    #31 10 years ago

For YouTube, I use a Chrome plugin that allows me to download. Then I use the nonmp3 tagger app included with e-touch to properly tag the artist, title, etc so that it appears correctly and is searchable.

    Hello my name is SA

These look cool. Problem though how do you keep the bottles full when in attract mode.

How did you mount your album covers? I have a bunch I'd like to display in my game room but I'm a little stumped on how to securely mount them without damaging them. Also, nice job on the LED rack!
