I messaged caker137 to see if he would let us make more or share the PCB and BOM. Hopefully we can figure out a way to get it made again.
Quoted from harryhoudini:I just unplugged the relay.
Is that possible? GI and backbox will be always on then?
Exactly. The clicking sound you hear is the relay turning on and off. You can just unplug power from the relay and there is no more turning on and off of the lights, just always on. Frankly, I don't feel like I'm missing much.

That sounds easy. How to uncut power from that relay? I can not pull it from the board? Any instructions for me?

Quoted from Crash:Sold my Data East and Sega games, so my board is available at $135 shipped if anyone wants it.
PM sent !
anyone out there going to pick up this torch and run with this? I had this in a DE Star Wars game and loved it. Was a super nice touch that really improved the lighting of the game. This is a must have mod in my opinion for all DE games. Is this really dead in the water?
I imagine it wouldn't be hard to design another version from the ground up that doesn't rip off Craig's design. I'll ask Dumbass:

I have a Rocky and Bullwinkle and soon to be a Baywatch and would love to get a board for each. Are these just, completely out of the question unobtainum at this point?

I believe so. People have discussed reproducing it with the designer’s permission, but so far no luck. The fellow who made it is very nice and accommodating, so maybe no one has reached out yet.

Super easy fix is to just add a resistor to the GI relay so that when the relay attempts to turn off the GI, it only dims it instead of turning them completely off. Forget the value but think it's just a 10 ohm 10 watt power resistor and then the Data East GI seizure mode becomes more endurable with GI LED's.

That isn't the same thing....

Sounds like a nice idea and easy improvement but it means that the GI can never turn fully off but is in dim mode instead, correct?
Do you maybe happen to have a video available to judge the behaviour ?
A couple questions:
1) Is there any way to use this while still allowing the GI relay to fire, even if it's not actually doing anything? I guess I'm in the minority here but I love the clicking relay sound and don't want to lose it!
2) Does this board also eliminate the 60hz flicker of the LEDs like GI OCD does? That's one of the biggest benefits to GI OCD IMHO, that it takes away the 60 frames-per-second appearance LEDs give off otherwise.
Edit: Uh oh, just caught up to the end of the thread. I guess if these are unobtanium now that makes my decision on getting one for me...

They don’t flicker on DE’s with Comets. None of mine have the flicker issue, and trust me I’m VERY sensitive to it. I played a GNR DE with shitty LEDs and it made me physically sick after about 10 minutes.
Quoted from caker137:I've got a few spares left. I also wanted to let everyone know that this might be the last batch I produce (or at least for a long while). So if you're on the fence, grab one while you can from the website! Thanks again for your interest.

Craig, do you think you can make a new batch of these? It’s been 3 years since and I’ve gotten 4 DEs since then! I only bought 1 board. If you remake them I will be in for 5.

Honestly i was unable to get some of the parts even before recent supply chain issues.
I know that the idea of having everything be controllable and programmable is cool in theory, but I would imagine that 95% of customers would be fine if it just smoothed out that blinking and didn't have all the additional features. Would that in any way make them easier to produce or source parts for?

Are the parts obsolete now? This is one of those must haves for DE to convert them to LED

Would it make a difference to start a new poll and gauge interest on a new batch? With current pin prices, DE is getting a lot of love for being so affordable!
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:Would it make a difference to start a new poll and gauge interest on a new batch?
Not sure but I would be in for one.
Matt.
Out of curiosity i checked around for stock. 8 parts unavailable currently. 5 of those don't have obvious replacements.
What a world we live in now....

Wow! That's crazy.
I am currently evaluating the possibility of running one more batch of kits, but the global production environment has changed like so many things in this modern supply chain world. To that end the price will be a bit higher than when the kit went out of production 2 years ago and I will also have to increase the batch size.
If you are interested in the kit which will necessarily be priced at $140, please visit the waitlist site and sign up so that I can get a good head count. If there is enough interest and I can source parts the production might be in our future.

Quoted from RyanStl:By kit do you mean I have to solder it myself?
Nope. Kit implies it comes with board and all cables. You just have to plug it in.

Oh, that was a dumb question then. Does this take care of the epiliptic flashing of the GI? If so, I'm in.

That’s exactly what it does.
It’s in the name! “GI smoother”
70402D73-53BC-4DBB-8734-998330E4E139.jpegGood news everyone! I have placed the order for a new batch of EnerGI Maestro boards. As always I ordered some extras beyond the ones you all signed up for, so if anyone is on the fence you still have a chance to get on the list. Everyone that signed up has a kit allocated, so don't worry if you are already submitted to the waitlist.
Estimated arrival on these is 4-6 weeks; I will keep you all posted.
