I finally completed my Rollergames project and am looking to add the insert board flashers as mine has the holes already cut out on the insert board for them. I already replaced the playfield incandescent flashers with LEDs.
As I understand it the insert board flashers were present on a few early production models but dropped for cost reasons for the rest of the run.
When I was working out the wiring of the new flashers it struck me that I had never considered the 5W resistors on the interconnect board when I replaced the pf flashers with LEDs. The LED flashers on the pf seem to work OK.
Do these 5W resistors need to be changed due to using LEDs? Also if I fit the insert board LEDs does this also have to be taken into consideration?
As I understand it the resistors are to stop the 25V supply overstressing the flasher lamps and that the more lamps on any particular circuit the smaller the value of the 5W resistor has to be due to the increasing internal resistance of the number of lamps in series. I have no idea how this relates to LEDs however.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
