I've updated my Bride of Pinbot (1.0) with LED's and I'm loving it *except* for the helmet lights which are blinding. Can anyone suggest an LED that is really pretty dim, like the original bulbs? All the ads hype how bright the lights are, but even 1 SMD bulbs are way too bright on the helmet, where you have 16 bulbs right next to each other. I'd go back to the original, but I think they are going to look a little lame with all the other bright lights that pop at you.

Are you using frosted or clear bulbs? If you're using clear, try frosted.

I've seen people use 1SMD frosted, and it doesn't seem too bad. I've seen some people use 1LED bulbs, but those go dim over time.

There might also be controller options for the helmet LEDs, like these, where you could probably control brightness:

do the smart thing, go incandescent there.

Thanks for all the good advice. I took Marvin's suggestion and just went back to incandescent. I did the same for the skill shot bulbs, meaning all the bare bulbs that are visible are back to incandescent, something I think I saw recommended here. With the LED's under the plastics it's exactly the look I wanted.
