I'm surprised my neighbor's haven't killed me yet. If anyone wants all the tree's in my front yard you can have them for the wood. Hate the leaves and the tree's have killed the grass.

I have a wooded area at the back of my house. All the leaves get blown and raked into that area.
My main problem is keeping them out of the gutters. I've got covers, but stuff still seems to find its way in.

Fun thread, around here the leaves just stay in the trees all year round. One of my shots from the hood.
Where's the "mow them with the lawn" or "wait until a windy day makes them somebody else's problem" options?
i would love to cut down every damn tree in my yard. wasnt bad when i had tractor to mow them up with... raking sucks
So I'm not the only one? I love oaks in a park, not so much in my yard. Palm trees are great though. They never clog my gutters.

Leaves suck, but gumballs suck more. Those come down all year long. I would love to have a sit down with the homeowner that planted the two sweet gum trees on my lot, now very big. One is cracking my driveway and the other my patio.

Yup, those are banana plants. Since it just finally dropped below the 70s within the past week and we're still in the high 40s at night, they are still going strong and will last until the first few freezes. They never last the full year to be able to produce bananas, but they are nice shade for the greenhouse in the summer and my chickens love to destroy the 6' tall leaves.
The 2 acres of ridges beyond the fence are mine and we don't touch the leaves there. I've got 3 100+ foot tall trees in the front yard that make it look like the driveway, and normally mulch them into the yard. But since it hasn't rained more than 1" since March here, my city is currently literally on fire, and we're under a red alert for air quality... I'm not doing anything. The grass is already crunchy and mostly dead anyway, so I'll get around to mulching/mowing them into the yard once I can breathe outside.

Yes, it looks bad, I read about it today in the WSJ. Hopefully it will break for you. Being in a drought sucks, as we know all too well over here. We've been in one for years with no end in sight.
I have 3 giant red Oaks, a massive silver maple, and a few others......I refuse to rake because my back won't take it. So, I got a gas blower and a rider with a bagger. Once a week I blow all the leaves out of the landscaping into the lawn and then drive around for 90min sucking up leaves.

A small leaf somehow made it onto the back arch plastic on my Flash. I'm just gonna leave it there for now.
Having had 16 years of the annual fall punishment, this year I bought a Cyclone Rake. WOW what a joy! It has made the clean up easy and fun! Even in areas that I cannot get the mover into there is a detachable vacuum hose with a 17 foot reach. When I use it the wife drives the mover and I operate the vacuum. You can thank the squirrels for that. They aren't happy just chewing on one, they feel the need to drop them all. Mostly before they are ready. I guess I should be thankful they leave me a few. Those bastards weren't around until a few years ago.

If they get dropped early like that, will they ripen up and be edible? Or are they ruined? If they are ruined, that would suck. If I had to choose between yummy avocados or the life of the squirrels----

They are ruined at that point as they won't ripen. Squirrels have become a real nuisance around here and serve no useful purpose that I can see.
When I moved into my house there were two liquid amber trees in the front yard and another next door and it's roots were destroying my driveway so we had them all removed. That's one yearly mess I don't miss especially those little spiky balls it would drop and I turned my ankle and buckled a few times before they were gone. If anybody has this kind of tree near their house it would be wise to have it removed as the roots can do major damage to the foundation.
My neighbor works offshore on a job by job basis. He is home now and will be for the winter. He loves to do yardwork and asked me if he could take care of my yard. I asked how much and he said "for free". The dude mows, edges and blows leaves for nothing. Damn I'm going to hat it when he goes back to work.
