Anyone leasing or renting games to customers instead of splitting the quarter take? If so how did you sell the idea?

I would do a comparison based on historical results with splitting the quarter take, and a guesstimated lease idea, taking into account repairs, using a spreadsheet.
This article from Ars Technica talks about renting a cabinet set on free play (http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/07/how-cabinet-rentals-could-save-the-flagging-arcade-game-market/). Apparently one company figures they'll net positive on $75 month-long leases to parties and customers. It sounds like they aren't put in traditional route locations, but rather to birthday parties, customer homes, and such.
Personally, if I could rent-a-pin for a month, I would.
Note: I'm not an operator or a route, but I've been thinking about the idea since I read that Ars article.
Hey Jpolfer, good article thanks for sharing! I think that's a great idea instead of splitting the quarter take. There's a market out there, just need to reach it, and this is one possible solution.....
Funny. I just read another article this morning about the same company.
