Due to getting a foot amputated and (it seems a prosthetic is not viable), my career as a baker seems over
I have no skill or education other than being a baker

have any of you completely change your life direction after turning 50yo?

Quoted from Medisinyl:

However, your question here leads me to believe you'd actually feel more relief by changing careers at this point.
I'm a firm believer and living proof that "if there's a will there's a way."
You either want to continue baking, or you're experienced enough to have had a dream in the back of your mind.
Follow whatever the dream is.
You'll regret any other decision. Money doesn't bring happiness.

if i could work in a wheelchair or crutches, I would, but that is not possible

I am still in the middle of making this decision
My fellow pinsiders are about the same age as I am, and a few have been through their own medical issues

I am more using you guys as a sounding board today

Quoted from lowbeau67:

Is there a reason you can't be fitted for a
Prosthetic?. Just curious. I've been a PTA
for 27 years and have worked with a lot of
patients in your situation.

Amputation dec 2019
revision surgery July 2020
the scar tissue has stuck to the bone, and despite me moisturizing and massaging everyday, it remains stuck
So when i wear a prosthetic, the skin tears

this leg has given me grief for almost 5 years, I want to move forward, rather than this hell of Groundhog day

Quoted from Nazumpan:

Sorry to hear about your situation PBP.
Hope I’m not being insensitive here (not trying to oversimplify) as I’m sure you’ve looked into many things. I’m also sure that I don’t know everything that a baker truly does.
But when I read your post the first thing that came to mind was something like this. Maybe not sturdy/strong enough or too bulky...
Best wishes and good luck with your decision.

I have an older version, it is good for somethings, but I am also missing part of my left foot which make it hard to walk with one
