Quoted from onemilemore:I'm new to the hobby as of last year and grew up with 90s-era pinball, so my knowledge of older pins isn't exactly vast. But what I have been finding lately is that, after a long day or when I'm a little stressed, I'd love to just be able to throw on some headphones, hit a couple orbits and spinners, and relax with some flowy pinball.
Problem is, I currently have more modern pins and, even with the flow aspect involved, there's more speed and general energy that doesn't really feed the need for relaxation.
So with that in mind, I'd love some guidance on some later EMs or early solid states that might fit the bill of a relaxing pin. Criteria I have in mind:
-Orbit(s)
-Spinner(s)
-Sounds that don't annoy me (Yeah, I know I said I would probably wear headphones, but I don't want to hate it when I am not wearing them.)
-Usually available
-Around $2k
If you have any ideas of pins I should be on the lookout for, it'd be greatly appreciated. Help me chill out and expand my knowledge of pinball history. Thanks!
If you're looking for spinners Grand Prix is one of the great ones. Two spinners. They really rip.
They made a lot of them so there are lots around and they won't break the bank. The downside is it might be the most complex EM ever made so if you can't fix them it might not be the best choice.
