A dear friend recently past away in blood cancer, R.I.P. Roland.
One of his last wishes was that Little Red Rooster singed by the Stones should be played at the funeral, I was a bit caught up in the moment of his last hours and never asked why but I assume it was one of his favourite songs.
The song was played at the funeral, great song but didnt make much sense at the time, it had my deepest respect though.
Me and my wife discussed this later and she wants Hotel California by the Eagels to be played when the time comes.
I can only think of one last song that I want to be played when Im in the coffin, Wayfaring Stranger singed by Emmylou Harris.

I wont comment this thread, its just a thread about your last respectful music wish.

I actually have had four songs picked out for years now. I wont say what they are but I thought it was important to get it right while I still can....

    John

Never thought of it until now, but some of that Dixie Jazz like they do in New Orleans funerals might hit the spot.

Better yet, "I Don't Need No Doctor" by Humble Pie.

    Queen- Fat Bottomed Girls
    Ramones- I wanna be sedated
    Kinks- Low Budget
ACDC- It's a long way to the top

Maybe reverse the order though. It should end with Fat Bottomed Girls.

As dumb as it sounds the sound track from Daytona USA.

Sympathy for the Devil. Not only is it my favorite song, but if the devil has to put up with me, he is going to have his hands full.

    Great thread.

I have my memorial music all picked out ahead of time. Too bad I won't be there to hear it!

The fun part is selecting music that is not being used. I have a whole list of it!

    "Don't get around much anymore"
    "Die young, stay pretty"
"Always look on the bright side of life"
    "I'll fly away"

But of course the one I've chosen to end my Memorial,
    "Happy Trails."

Spirit in the Sky, Crystal Blue Persuasion

My Way performed by Elvis. The live version when he sang it in Hawaii. My family has said that it will be tough on them at that moment, but if it is my wishes they will do it.

    "Goodbye to You" by Scandal.

Not really. Haven't thought that far ahead. But it wouldn't be Scandal.

My wedding song was a Bright Eyes song (First Day of my Life), so it would only be fitting to have my Funeral Song be Bright Eyes too.

    #26 4 years ago

    My closing song:

    No tears...just a party!

Hash Pipe by Weezer.. weed party! Want my friends feeling good, not sad!

    #27 4 years ago

I don’t want a funeral. Cremation and bring the ashes. Have a pinball party, serve beer and pizza, wine for those that want it. A bowl of different chips in every room. In other words, just like if I was hosting.

    Quoted from gjm:

    Van Halen "I can't drive 55"

Out of respect for both Sammy and Ed - that is not a Van Halen song, although yes they have played it live.

Interesting idea I never thought of...

Great list of music posted so far. Please post a Youtube video for your songs if you can, as I'm getting a huge kick out of listening to all these great options.

Since I've never put much thought into this... I might come back and update this at a later date.

R.E.M. - It's the End of the World

Joe Walsh - Life's Been Good

    Beatles - In My Life

Blue Oyster Club - Don't Fear the Reaper

    Great idea.

Doesn't mean you can't put together a Spotify playlist to play during your pinball bash / celebration of life.

Pick the songs that tell your story, mean the most to you, or just pick songs to annoy your friends/family.

    Short and sweet.
The Looney Toons song with Porky Pig “Th-The, Th-Th-The, Th-Th... That's all, folks!"

My favorite song by far, “Holy, Holy, Holy.” I usually can’t make it through all verses without tears, but others will be singing it!

Also Ennio Morricone fan here, although I'm going for the entire The Good the Bad and the Ugly sound track, mainly:

although it really comes down to whatever who is around that gives a shit wants, it's not for me, it's for them.

option two is this, and I don't even play drums.
