Hey guys, looking for some opinions.

Thinking about spending some money making on my fully working Last Action Hero game to make it pop. I'm not a great pinball tech, and I'd like to hire someone to do it. How much should I expect to pay for the service I want done?

Here's what I'm interested in:

Powder coating rails and legs to match crane.
Install color DMD.
Lighted speakers.
Fix a flipper issue I have Jerry rigged.
Flipper rebuild.
Finish changing the hard to get to bulbs to leds, 90% led already installed.
Add extra lighting to brighten the playfield.

Any insight and what I could expect this would cost to have done would be appreciated, thank you.

Color dmd is $379 and easy enough to install that you should do it yourself.

Your right, that one I may take off the list.

I feel like you could do most of that yourself. Everything combined would take a tech a couple of hours to do ($100-150) except powder coating. That would require bids or searching for prices/shipping/etc

I would think 300-400 for all of that...plus the cost of the items (speakers, color dmd, etc)

With the exception of the having the rails powdercoated, you could do most of this with a non technical background.

Pinball legs - $75 https://www.pinballlife.com/williamsbally-yellow-legs-set-of-4.html
Color DMD - ~$400. This can be done in about 20 minutes with a hex screwdriver and USB drive. It's super easy
Lit Speakers: I've never done this but it doesn't look too bad. First item you might need a tech for if you are not comfortable soldering. If you can solder something like $50 or $75 http://www.speakerlightkits.com/Type-2.html
Flipper rebuild: Can be done without soldering. Maybe $50 https://www.pinballlife.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=DE0692-0493 Not super easy, but 2 hours the first time you do it, 45 minutes everytime thereafter.
Bulbs: Not hard, take it apart and put it back together. May want to change out rubbers as it is no extra work to do it.
Extra lighting: Super easy to do and kind of fun. I like and use the Comet LED Matrix stuff. Most of this is as simple as attaching alligator clips to an existing LED light to light up a new lighting strip. https://www.cometpinball.com/collections/matrix

If it was me, I would think the things you were most likely to want to outsource would be the flipper rebuild and the speaker light kit. I'd guess $100 for parts and $100 to $200 for labor for those 2 items. I would encourage you to try it yourself but there is nothing wrong with outsourcing it.

Good luck!

There is no soldering involved in any of my Speaker Light Kit installs (unless you are changing your speakers also). The light kit install instructions are all listed right on my website for anyone to see before they even place their order.

http://www.speakerlightkits.com/Manuals.html

My biggest suggestion with adding one to a LAH (or many of the Data East games that have painted grills) is to mount the painted grills BEHIND the light frames so the painted grill designs will be lit up instead of them being washed out from being backlit. See examples of of the grills in front vs the grills being mounted in back. The LAH grills are pretty much what you see is what you get, but some of the other painted grills (WWF, Checkpoint and Data East Simpsons) REALLY POP when the grills are behind the light frames. I think that all comes down to the painted grill designs and what colors they used on different ones and how they interact with the light from the light kit. The Checkpoint grill looks like a straight up 3D illusion when mounted behind the light frames and set to a certain color.

So I hope that helps and clears up what is involved in a Speaker Light Kit install. As stated....it's all there on my website to look over before making a purchase decision.

Thanks for the input. That second picture that illuminates the speaker design is exactly what I wanted, I'll look into your kit.
