Last Action Hero Data East, 1993

Hello All - my Last Action Hero Pinball machine is no longer functioning. When I turn in on the play field lights up, sound says "I'll be Back" and the display shows the version and then goes blank and eventually comes up with the message Audit > Undefined Audit #. Does anyone have an idea on what could be wrong and what I could try? I will also list some additional facts below

1. When I turn on the machine the display lights up with the version info and then display goes blank
2. After a few minutes I will see the message Audit 0= Balls Total 9,544,556 then finally Audit > Undefined Audit#
3. If I press the step button I hear a sound but nothing on the display
4. Pressing the Ease Adjust button does not appear to do anything
5. The start button is not lit but if I press it I hear the sound "Not to Be"
5. I replaced the double AA batteries and there was NO sign of any leakage or corrosion
