How loud is your speaking hum in attract-mode?

Mine's starting to bother me a tad.

#850 6 years ago
Quoted from TheCapn:

Loosen and/or tighten the screws that hold your sound card.

Seriously?

#853 6 years ago

Ok. I am assuming because you think it's a grounding issue? I will totally try. Thanks!

I also read in the past that the caps on the sound board should be replaced?

Thoughts on that? Worth it?

#854 6 years ago

Also, a HUGE WTF when it comes to adjusting the wire ramp that comes out of the crane ejector. There's only one screw that provides the adjustment. Last night, I attempted to adjust it 4 friggin' times. I'm still not getting a smooth transition between the upper and lower wire ramp. Half my games last night, the ball rode ON TOP of the bottom wire ramp. Comes at you way faster that way...

I can't imagine that this adjustment type was very popular/appreciated when LAH was on location.

I own lah. Would Jurassic Park be too similar as far as playfield / play when put side by side?

#859 6 years ago
Quoted from caker137:

but if I was space limited I'd probably look for some more diversity.

Roger that. Thanks for the info. I had a similar feeling just looking at the playfield pictures.

Quoted from StrangeSubset1:

Are you referring to the ramp from the VUK on the top right

Yes. Not the yellow part, but the chromed part (the wire ramp that receives the ball from the yellow one).

Quoted from TheCapn:

Possibly just the tilt angle of your game not being high enough or coil not strong enough.

Oh, my coil is strong enough, sometimes too strong as the ball gets out of the yellow wireform and jumps back in the pops. But maybe the vertical machine angle is not steep enough, that's a possibility...

Thanks for all the info!

Quoted from StrangeSubset1:

somebody discovered that a dedicated power supply helps

Yes, but I would "float" the sound board first. That's my next mod, probably going to try it this weekend.

Quick question. For those who have 6 LED bulbs for the "RIPPER" lights, what LEDs are you using?

(normally #44 bulbs)

Thanks!

Quoted from TheCapn:

cointaker frosted yellow

Thank you, Sir.

Need opinion.

Fuse 7 (3amp slow-Blo) blows after a while.

Flipper and Flashers, correct?

Thoughts on how to find my short?

Maybe disconnect Flasher molex connector (which one?) and see if fuse still blows?

What do you think the 1st step would be?

Thanks in advance for your council.

#1050 6 years ago
Quoted from StrangeSubset1:

Might not be your problem, but I figured I throw it out there.

Thanks man. Yeah, I am already using a "spiral" fuse (Slow-Blo).

#1053 6 years ago

Heads-up.

Long story super short:

Make sure you fastened the (stupid) loose coil at the bottom of the cabinet.

Mine traveled and touched the ground-strap, blowing fuse F7 every time a new ball needed to be served.

What's that coil for anyways?????

EDIT: I was just told it's the knocker coil, and it should not be loose like this. Looks like I'll be reinstating the knocker in my game.

Quoted from jester523:

but couldn't find the fuse type in the manual.

I don't have my manual handy, but the amp rating *should* be written on one of the fuse end caps.

Do you still have your old fuse?

Quoted from StrangeSubset1:

It is a great game

Isn't it? It always surprises me considering what I have to compare it with. LAH always stands on its own!

Does the topper do anything? It's police lights, correct? Is it tied to the flashers?

#1788 5 years ago
Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Yes it is the police lights and has flasher in it.

Thanks. But when does it turn on and flash?

I don't have the topper, and wondering if there is a dedicated wire for it that I could re-use. Thanks.

Quoted from moonraker:

My ticket is in great shape. Do you guys Mylar over it to protect it? Also I noticed because left scoop cliffy is not perfectly flush they put alittle Mylar so the ball would go in.

That cliffy on mine looks like a Ruffle chip. Curled up like crazy. Not sure what to do either.

Also, I have a tiny mylar square on my ticket, just where the ball hits it on its way out of the VUK. Does the job.

#2152 4 years ago

Thanks guys. I will plasticwood-fill my hole before reinstalling the cliffy. That'll be a winter project though. Cheers.
