In the settings of the game u can adjust the coil strength. Lo.
Quoted from Mttw:I have a strange question. My flippers feel stiff and almost too powerful. The solenoids the correct ones. It is difficult to make the side captive ball on the left side and the scoop shot on the right. Is this normal for this machine? Also are data east flippers like this? It plays completely different then my Junk Yard flippers.
Yes. Data East flippers are stronger than WPC flippers.
If you adjust your flipper bats down a bit against the flipper alignment holes, it will allow you to hit those shots a bit easier. Those shots are very late on the flippers as it is.
General question. Would a failing capacitor (the big blue boy in the bottom left of the cabinet) cause the shaker motor to run super slow and intermittently? It will turn on occasionally but its super sluggish and really sounds like its struggling.
Thanks!
Bryan

Is this during gameplay because that's normal in test mode.

Both gameplay and test mode.
You beautiful people and all your knowledge. This is my first pinball machine and there’s A LOT I don’t know to look for. This community is amazing at pointing people in the right direction. Thank you so much, there was a resistor that unsoldered itself on my shaker motor board. Going to fix it this morning. Thank you all again!

No merit, the same thing happened to me. I found the unsoldered resistor quickly but then wasted two weeks trying to figure out why it was so weak in test mode... to find out it was by design.

There’s definitely a Megadeath song in there but I don’t know which one. But with a pin sound card you can put it in there for sure!

Here is what I found from some preliminary digging.

I just put this in my game and let me tell you what a game changer it is. Game plays better, ball goes faster, and I score more now that Arnolds big head isn't staring me down. but on a serious note, these are awesome!!! Great job on these!!!!

I already have the super cool dmd animations....shhhhhhh it's a secret
I've been a pin player for a long time, but relatively new to Pinside. This is also my first post. I've had a Last Action Hero Pin for ~25 years and love it. More recently I've been renovating it with several upgrades and mods. I noticed something that must be a mistake during manufacturing, my speaker covers have the Data East Star Wars print on them, not the LAH golden tickets, ref pictures.
- Does anyone know where I can purchase or obtain the proper LAH speaker covers/screens?
- Thanks in advance

I think you have a star wars speaker panel. But wow it looks really good with that shadow effect on the deathstar.
How did u score this game 25 yrs ago!?
I purchase it for my kids Christmas in ~1998 at Kentucky Game Exchange in Lexington, KY.
I didn't realize that the speaker grills were wrong until I joined Pinside and saw all the correct versions.

Pretty sure I have a set but working away at the moment, drop me a PM
Most likely an operator just needed to outfit the game with a working dmd so he swapped in the speaker panel complete with dmd, speaker and deathstar grills.
If ur looking for the movie poster style translite, send me a dm!
i've got a spare ticket overlay collecting dust since i sold my machine. i bought it from a forum member years ago.
if anyone wants it shoot me a pm; i'll give it away for free ( you only have to pay for shipping from the netherlands).

Anyone able to confirm if these are a great replacement for the switches for the left scoop and VUK to feed the crane?

They should work.
Hello everybody !
I get a LAH 2 days ago. My first Dat East.
It was in poor conditions and sleeping since 20 years.
Today I checked a lot of things (fuse, unsolded wire,...) before starting the game.
The 26pins ribbon cable is missing so the DOT is not working. A ROM (C101) is also missing, but I don't know if it's the game ROM or the display ROM. I didn't found the answer on schematic manual. Could you tell me wich ROM is missing please ?
Screenshot_20230924-003557_Gallery (resized).jpg
Second point, I switched ON and immediately heard "I'll be back" at maximum sound level, what a schock !
Impossible to change the sound level, no effect of the rotative button. Same things when the rotative button is unplugged directly from the board.
Could it be due to the unworking DOT and/or the missing ROM and/or the missing ribbon cable ?
Third and last point, cover speaker grills are coming from a WWF Rumble. If someone know where I can find the corrects one with the tickets, please tell me !
Thank you in advance for your help !

1) one eprom for mpu is normal.
2) display eprom(s) is located on seperate dmd board.
3) sound at top volume is normal if sound board is unplugged from volume control or break in sound control volume wiring.
Thanks a lot for your quick answer.
As the missing ROM is normal, I worked a lot last night.
I built a ribbon cable and try to push the analysis.
I discovered that TR4 is totally missing on the Power Supply board ! So no -110 V and no -98V => the DOT can't work.
(others voltage seems ok on test points)
I checked all the boards and here the synthesis just below:
On your opinion and experience, is it possible to replace the missing TR4 (reference ?) or do I need replace the entire Power Board for a correct reference one ?
And what about the other boards ? Do I need to put exactly the good reference one for each board or is it ok ?
Thank you in advance for you help, I'm like a kid 2 days before Christmas... I can't waiiiiiiit !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quoted from kryss63:On your opinion and experience, is it possible to replace the missing TR4 (reference ?) or do I need replace the entire Power Board for a correct reference one ?
With an unknown board, I'd just swap out the board with a known good one or new replacement. I have had great difficulty repairing DE power board high voltage sections, too much gets damaged at times when something fails and you end up replacing many other parts.
For now see if you can get the machine to boot up and go into attract mode. Disconnect the power connector on the sound board so you don't get blasted on start up.
Thank you for your fast reply, it helps a lot !
I think attract mode is working.
At each start, some coils and the crane are moving (there is not the 3 battery on the motherboard).
Red led blanck and +5V are ON, PIA led is OFF. After that, all lights are flashing, it looks like attract mode.
I can't see more because the DOT doesn't work and the game seems not in free play. So I'm not able to check if I can launch a game.

Drop a coin or two in and see if you can start a game.

Unfortunately, it's impossible because the coin system is missing...
