Quoted from Scoot:

My flippers will not trap a ball when rolling down the inlane. If I try, the ball will roll off the flipper and go down the middle every time. However, I can easily tap pass it to the other flipper, or flip the ball up to keep it on the same side. I believe my table is set a little higher at 6.5 degrees.

I love doing tap passes on Robocop so I can rail the ramp, still a tough shot.

Hoping to get some help on an auto launch issue. I recently picked up this pin for the first time and it is my first time playing this title.

When starting a game the auto launch is firing after only one cycle of the crane lights/targets. Again, this is my first time playing this game but in watching videos it looks like it should be giving more time to attempt the skill shot instead of quickly auto firing.

I looked in manual and there’s no setting for this. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or what might cause this?

Thanks

I would go into diagnostics and see if there is a switch stuck.

It should continue indefinitely. After a certain time the GI will come back on though. The left flipper button will also launch the ball.

Anyone knows how to fix if the ripper lights, smart missile lights and star button lights? All the other lights works properly but all those lights doesn't light up. Thank you

Start by bring up the diagram of the lamp matrix and where the lamps reside on it.

The majority of the time it is a bad diode(s) or broken wire at some point in the string.

#2708 3 years ago

I've been looking carefully and didn't find any broken diode or wire. The only thing I saw a bit weird is a missing fuse. When I bought the pinball it was already like that I'm not sure if that's normal or I need to put any fuse on

You have to use meter to test diodes.

Ok basics- are the other insert lamps working? Yes/no

Power and ground for controlled lamps is through mpu to lamp matrix. If other lamps are working, ignore fuses.

You need a lamp matrix diagram to troubleshoot.

#2711 3 years ago

Yes, others insert lamps are working fine. i just have problem with riper, smart missile and start lights.

Thank you for your help. I'll try to take a look on the lamp matrix diagram and try to find the problem

These lamps are all in column 8. I had the same problem and discussed it here: https://www.afpinball.com/restorations/last-action-hero. Scroll down to "Lamp column not working".

I already fix it! it wasn’t any wire or fuse problem. I just used a special electronic spray all over the cn6 and started to work again.

#2715 3 years ago

I’m also gonna start cleaning the playfield and I saw some videos and they recommend using nafta but I can’t find it in europe. do you recommend me any other similar product? I also read that maybe I can use the zippo gas. do you recommend me that? also I had a little bit of plastic pealing on my playfield. what can I use to paste it? thank you everyone for your help

Novus 1 for cleaning.

Never use contact cleaner spray as it is only a temporary solution and will cause more problems in the future. You should replace CN6 and potentially replace the header pins, too.

For general playfield cleaning you can use novus 2 . I have also used a common housecleaning product that must be available to Spain , Cif. It cleans really well.At least for my really dirty pinballs before restoration did meracles. Naptha is the equivalent to Zippo Gas. (There is a product with the same name in Europe but it is Turpentine oil from Pine trees but don;t use it.). For the Mylar that has pealed you may add a small piece and connect it with the rest of playfield.

#2719 3 years ago

Novus 2 is more abrasive than Novus 1.

Big shout out to @mrtantrum for his new product! New apron decals that hide the unsightly light bulbs that stick up through the apron. Similar to his JP T-REX mod, you replace the standard bulbs with flex bulbs and the new decals cover the holes and back light the letters.
With the new apron decals and his new DE logo chrome decal and score cards, my apron looks fantastic!

Those look great! Do they hide the reflection of those lights on the dmd?

Thank you for all your help and advice! I'll start restoring my playfield. I've never cleaned it before the playfield and also I need to change all the rubbers.

Take lots of pictures when you break down the top side for thorough detailing. Label. Put assemblies and their hardware in a plastic bag so they stay together. Take more pictures. And, if in doubt, take more pictures.

Enjoy!

#2725 3 years ago

Can any one please tell me the length of your last action hero game. I got mine mixed up. Lol. Also where can you buy a new set?

#2726 3 years ago

a good game lasts more than 20 minutes.

#2727 3 years ago

I’m helping a friend with his LAH. The playfield pegs were off his game when I got there can someone show me a picture of how they are supposed to be installed?

Thanks!

Do you mean the pf supports?

#2729 3 years ago
Quoted from drummermike:

Yep. The gold metal feet that attach to the bottom of the playfield.

Let me get a pic for you.

#2731 3 years ago

I put longer lane guide bolts in to attach the supports. Put a nut on the bottom of the bolt and use one screw. The two screws always loosen.

Thanks! That is weird that the lane guide bolts go all the way through the supports.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

I put the longer ones in to add strength for the supports. I drilled two holes and installed the longer bolts. My supports were always bending with only the stock screws.

#2734 3 years ago

Ahh. I see. Good to know. That’s probably why these were just removed. Haha

#2735 3 years ago

The best thing you can do for DE games is to upgrade and replace those supports. I have had two rip out of playfields. These are absolute junk.

#2736 3 years ago

You mean to put the stern style rails on? Anyone have pictures of those installed so I can see where they mount?

#2737 3 years ago

I'm at work, so I can't search right now but I know there is a thread/post with pics on Pinside with the rail upgrade. Pinball Life has the rails.

This is where I anchored mine.

Some more questions on this LAH I’m shopping for a friend:

He’s missing the spinner. I guess he needs a bracket, the spinner, and the actuator for the switch. I’m having trouble finding any of it.

Magnets don’t work. Fuses are good right at the magnets. I have not tested anything on the board under the playfield near the magnets. They do not work in game or test. Anything to check before testing the components on the board under the playfield?

LED Color dmd the only option for this game?

Thanks!

#2741 3 years ago

Pinball Life has a new improved magnet board.

#2742 3 years ago

Oh great! Thanks so much. Will be nice to have that to help troubleshoot.

#2743 3 years ago

I have noticed better ball movements with the new board. Was not expensive.

#2744 3 years ago

Cool. Is there a source for the spinner decals? I only see a full decal set at Marco. I only need the spinner.

#2745 3 years ago

I could only find the full set also. I needed the crane and spinner.

Contact Mr. Tantrum. I believe he can print you a new one.

#2747 3 years ago

DE-515-5236-00 (spinner) is out of stock everywhere. Does anyone know if another spinner will work in LAH?

thanks!

#2748 3 years ago

Mr. Tantrum came through on the spinner decals! thanks again.

Some other issues I need help with before I head back over there to finish this game up:

Can someone post a pic of the wires that go to the spinner? his are disconnected.

The crane has a mini coil on it that I believe holds the ball in place as it swings back and forth. is that a magnet, or doe it operate a mini post or something? His is not holding the ball in place.

thanks!
