Quoted from mskoenen:

Even with that middle button not functioning, you should still be able to get into adjustments. You just have to scroll past the audits (I think there's about 50 of them). I'd recommend scrolling to adjustment 47, and restore factory settings. That will rule out some setting somewhere that's causing this.

Hey Matt, Ian...

So Laser war has three buttons. The first button gets us in the adjustments... the second button is supposed to be the up/down button to switch from game adjustments to tests... Right now we only have access to test. Even if you scroll past everything you never get into game adjustments. So we can't access the restore factory settings. I have no idea what the third button does to be honest. I wonder now if the three button set up is either something they did for Laser war only since it was Data Easts first game or if it was a hack job. I will try to post a picture tomorrow so you can see what we have going on.

Quoted from DumbAss:

I think Williams System 11 does this. I don't think I've seen Data East games do this.

The three button configuration is a direct copy (rip-off) of System 11. I don't believe the "third" button is wired up but if it is it should be wired to "reset high scores".
Try the following:
Short the BLU (blue) and WHT (white) wires at the switch (use an alligator clip or something like that). Then press the "first" button.
If this is too difficult to do then remove the appropriately colored pins from the Molex connector to the coin door and short them there.
Alternatively you can disconnect CN14 at the CPU board and short the wires at the connector. To enter audits / adjustments you will need to short the GRN (green) and WHT wires.

Thank you... that actually helps a lot!

It worked... Everything works now... Matt that picture helped. I had only one white going on button one and one white that jumped from the second button to the third. I just moved that button from the third to the first button and we were in business! Thanks Everyone!
