I just returned from Pinburgh and had time to visit the
Pennsylvania Coin Operated Gaming Hall of Fame and Museum

    Here is my findings:

After counting 173 playable pins,I believe it's the LARGEST pin location
    in the USA!!

I have visited Tims' PHOF and also The Silverball Museum in Asbury Park,NJ
and I believe it's now the location that wins the "most pins" contest.

For a location to qualify for this list it must be open to the public most days of week.

Does anyone know any LARGER pin palaces?

Wow! 173 machines is very large collection. The biggest I have been to is Pinballz Arcade in Austin, TX with around 120 machines, and The Lone Star Pinball Museum in Hockley, TX which has a very large collection (well over 100). I hope to make it to the PHOF, and the PA Coin Operated Gaming Hall of Fame someday.

The Ann Arbor pinball museum has 300 restored and playable machines. Besides PAPA, it's the largest i do believe. But as you noted, just like PAPA, it's not open to the public every day. (for many of the same reasons that PAPA is not open to the public every day.)

It's difficult to keep more than 100 games running in an "open every day" environment. Add to that, the machines basically cannibalize each other financially. The ideal location, from a maintenance and profit point of view, is like 5 games. Having 100 games is crazy unless you're a pinball nut! Also just the general cost of the machines, and space, etc, makes it pretty unfeasible. For example at the PHoF, they have about 225 games. but at any given day, 25 to 50 of them are not working. It's a tough job in a public venue, to say the least.

CP Pinball St. Louis 100 Games open 6 days a month and 2-3 more for private parties and events. Every Game Works, is Level, Looks Great, Play Great. No more than 1 or 2 games down at any point. Plus BYOB and $15 gets you in all night for FREE PLAY. Ask me how tough it is to keep 100 games operating all the time................................!

    Sorry for the Self Promotion!

Per the post i just read on article form USA today Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas has over 250 games on site, out of 800 in storage. Not sure always all working and have never been there myself but i am sure others who have can weigh in.

I think its a 50/50 split at the PHOF. games are on but not properly functioning. Probably the most beat up games in one place/

Cactus Jacks has 60 and open daily. As Clay mentioned: as quantity rises, quality has a strong urge to decline as it's difficult to keep them all running at 100%. Also as mentioned, a small number of games account for a large % of coin drop. Most play WOZ, TWD, Kiss, AFM while few play Corvette, 24, or Playboy because there are 50 more games between the two extremes. A well trafficked location would be fine at 20 machines if it were all about maximizing each games potential.

Pinball hall of fame, in theory, has 250 games. But in reality, as others have said, it's far less than that due to malfunctions or just plain being broke and turned off. It's a very high traffic site, lots of press about them, so those games really see a lot of play. Takes about 6 month at the PHoF for a new Stern to look like a 20 year old Stern.

"The Arcade" in Brighton michigan has a good selection of pinballs. though they have sold off a lot of them, there's probably still about 30 to 40 good machines for play. He has moved to more classic video games recently though, and de-emphasized pinball somewhat.

While I don't think this location is open all the time either, No one has mentioned http://www.museumofpinball.org/ in Banning CA. Broke the world record with 331 people playing. Site says 800 pinballs/vids, not sure of the totals of each. http://www.arcadeexpo.com/our-facility/

The banning site, like Ann Arbor and papa, is only open twice a year. I went last January and they do have a lot of pinballs. But about half were not working, and most others didn't play all that well. They have some work to do. Killer facility though.

$125/month... eyes popped out my head but then I thought about it and that’s not too unreasonable actually.
