    Quoted from frenchmarky:

What is the solder technique? You mean soldering between the bottom of the base and the mounting arm (I've done that), or putting solder on the rivet where it contact the bulb? I think I've been lucky, have had to mess with very very few sockets. Once in a while just cleaning the end of the bulb fixes a buggy one.

Their is no soldering... please read the title.

    Quoted from mappy_mouse:

    Hi vec-tor
Great thread and thanks for posting. Could you tell me what size and style the new rivet is.

Their are two sizes I ended up using.
    size 18 & 19, 1/8 semi tubular rivets.
    with
    1/8 clincher.
