Your loss is my gain!
Quoted from Beatnik-Filmstar:In peripheral Ron news - the IFPA state championship tournaments were held this past weekend. In the course of getting wrecked by a former state champ 4 straight in the first round I lost one of my games on a Quicksilver who's playfield has passed through Ron's shop. Score not withstanding - the game is a thing of absolute beauty.
True, true, and true. Maybe Nine Ball needs some Kruzman love as well?
Quoted from kruzman:Very cool! Did it play well? Fast? Did people complain because its not like an uncleared pf? I was a volunteer score keeper at the tourneys at expo for several years. Those guys get PISSED when they loose.
I know what it is like to get my ass handed to me. Luckily I am not competitive at all.
I am not exactly an unbiased party here (ha) but will say this about it: it is an absolute ass-kicker. When you get a hold of a ball, you are king of the world… but if you let your guard down for a moment you will get a power outlane.
Either way, baby, you’re gonna come back for more. I couldn’t be happier with it… so thanks Ron… and kudos to rockwell for the killer job on it!
Quoted from slochar:That's one of the reasons I don't play in many tourneys anymore. It's supposed to be fun, not something where the loser throws chairs, hits walls, swears at the top of their lungs, complains about machine setup, calls the ifpa president if a ruling doesn't go their way, etc.
The newer players coming up see much more classy about this when they lose.
I think there are lots of different personalities playing… and everyone has their own expectations for their play and the outcomes going in. Some handle those unfavorable outcomes better than others for sure. Even so, I think everyone still comes back because they are still having fun… and most of the bad behavior is a bit self-regulating because (most) people realize pretty quickly that they are being an ass and making other people uncomfortable/miserable. And if not, the TD/host/owner can always let them know they’re not welcome if they can’t control that nonsense.
The social aspect of it is by far the most enjoyable aspect of it for me. Getting together and having some beverages (or what have you) and playing some pinball with people you like hanging out with.
It has been a while now, but there is a small group of us that when we get together just play dollar games - everyone throws a buck in the pot and winner takes it… and on to the next game. Low pressure but still something to play for. Life is good but short - so enjoy it.
Quoted from Aurich:Bond 60th looks like a good dollar game candidate.
Ha. One can only HOPE for salvaging something out of that debacle.
Quoted from Tophervette:A Stern Insider is the New software and QR code reader that costs several hundred dollars to an already expensive new pinball machine from Stern. You flash your personal QR code from paper or phone to the reader. It then puts your name on the display of the machine. It records your game play, score and various completions of events in the game. You can look at your game results later on the computer in Sterns website. You can also compare yourself to others that play the same title. Think Big Brother of Pinball world. It knows when you play, where you play, how often you play, how good or bad you play. LOL.
Well, it costs $199. Comes with all new Sterns.
Quoted from Tophervette:I want a Godzilla very much. Really I do. I want a Premium, but can not justify the 10k price tag just yet. It is becoming an icon like TAF. So the price is going to continue to escalate.
I bet if you can hold off for a year or two, you’ll be able to pick one up at a very fair price. So many out there, I suspect quite a few will hit the market around the same time.
Quoted from mmr61184:Would be happy to have a Kruzman seal stamped on the bottom of my playfield
That’s what she said.
