Quoted from jrcmlc:

what did I just read

Didn't grow up in the late 70's I guess? Steve Martin. "Let's Get Small", "Wild and Crazy Guy", "Comedy is Not Pretty"....all great comedy albums and staples of my turntable youth.

#4753 32 days ago
Quoted from RCA1:

I like to get small. It's a wild, wild drug. Very dangerous for kids though, because they get really small. I know I shouldn't get small when I'm drivin', but, uh, I was drivin' around the other day, you know- and a cop pulls me over. And he goes, ‘Hey, are you small?’ I said, ‘No, I'm tall, I'm tall.’ He said, 'Well, I'm gonna have to measure you.' They've got a little test they give you; it's a balloon, and if you can get inside of it, they know... you're small.

awesome

Quoted from kruzman:

This is a german Gieger, alt-pf for 8 ball. It a german sportsman/hunting theme. Its got a hot house frau, with nice buttons, but they gave her granny panties. I could easily make them in to regular american panties, but her skin color is the wood rather than make a color, they used no ink for the white people skin. so I wouldnt be able to paint her legs. maybe this is not a hunting theme. Its a find hilga and ask her to take her clothes' off while you hold a large shotgun?
My experience of europe and england was all in the 90's, but it was more common than not to run across some bad panties on an amazing woman at that time. I still didnt mind the slightest. I was/am a sucker for an accent or even a dialect.
The plywood this pf is made from is amazing. Its the best I have worked with. super heavy. Its hardwood all the way thru.
I started prepping this in the upper left corner with my DA sander on 600 grit. I usually use 400 on the stock clear, but this one was super micro thin and the first thing I hit was number 1 insert and the sander went right thru it. so I shut it down and sanded the rest by hand. Its hard to get rid of the wood grain effect or record groove effect, by hand sanding.
since the clear was so thin, every time I hit an area that was not level I sanded right in to the ink. so any cracks around the inserts will all have to be filled and painted. since this is a company in germany, I doubt they use the same materials as bally williams, so I had to do a black color match. I have 14 different shades of black.
The good news is I dont think I got in to any colors, so just black. also I epoxied the inserts from behind.

I can't wait to see this when your done!

Here is the pink panther after the same work
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Me finding out there was a Pink Panther pin and it is fully my vibe. I can't wait to see the result on this. If only they weren't so rare to find today.

Quoted from engreystar:

Here is something that is odd. Those games like pink panther, develis dare, force 2, volcano, alien star, panthera, they were always available for sale, and a dime a dozen. in 2010 you couldnt get people to pay 300 for a pink panther. You could buy a whole bunch of games for 300, so the big sys 80 gottlibs didnt sell, and they got parted and parted and parted. I had so much sys 80 parts in my shop because I bought 20-30 populated gottlieb pfs in 5-8 years. If you went to an auction there were some titles that you could count on to be there, and get sold last. It was the ones I mentioned and the later sys 80a and B.

80% of the games I own are sys 80 AB and early sys 3 street level. (INCLUDING one sys 1)

This pf required no colors to match besides black. Since it wasnt made by the usual suspects I had a feeling the black would be a different shade and I was right.
I still have to put it on the light table to make sure there are not any thin spots, Then it is ready for its first coat.

20240622_155006 (resized).jpg20240622_155006 (resized).jpg20240622_155012 (resized).jpg20240622_155012 (resized).jpg20240622_155018 (resized).jpg20240622_155018 (resized).jpg20240622_155037 (resized).jpg20240622_155037 (resized).jpg20240622_155056 (resized).jpg20240622_155056 (resized).jpg20240622_155134 (resized).jpg20240622_155134 (resized).jpg
#4758 28 days ago

On the wcs I had to match blue, red, orange, yellow, and black.
All colors require 2 coats, if just to get the brush strokes out. yellow is a nightmare. This is med. cad. yellow, and I adjusted a liquitex color so I could use it because it has the better coverage, but of course it still took 3 coats to do all of the yellow.
So the goal, (hotdog) insert, and the jack pot ribbon have to get painted as well as the lightning bolts

#4759 28 days ago

At this point I have 2 or 3 coats of the yellow down on the goal and lightning bolts, but hold off before you judge

Now I have cut the edges of the yellow with black on the key lines to tighten it up. I also put one coat on the ribbon. This is just yellow.

I need to do one more coat on the ribbon, and then cut it with black. That ribbon is very small and painting around the script it no fun for shakes mcgilicuddy

I saw a nipple and a surpize lamp in her panties. Juvenile I know, but great art work.

Quoted from Tophervette:

I was just thinking about it today. Pins have to have pretty chicks on them. It was an unwritten law until jan 20 1981
There are 2 kinds of women out there.
The ones that know men are children at heart and love boobies. (its in our genes to gravitate to boobs) These women have accepted it and to them it is a term of endearment.
Then there are the ones that haven't figured out that men and women operate on 2 very different operating systems or languages. They dont think its cool that their man is in touch with his young-self, and they are jealous of everything that doesnt have to do with them. I have known both kinds.
I own all 3 playboy pins. I am not really cool with the stuff I have heard that went on at the mansion in la, and I cant stand the mag, but I love pins with pin up style chicks. The 2 pins I am actively searching for are a genie, and a barb wire. For the genie I have drawn out the girl to be topless.
I am single, and I hate it, but the reason for that is more because I am honest up front. I have learned that it rarely works out, but whats a brother to do.

IJ would be even better if there were some boobies on it. The regan/mease administration made a difference on pinball backglasses. Of course posting "Dont use drugs!" on pins, and getting school kids to ratt out their parents who smoke pot, was all great for the country in the long run, and thank goodness. Imagine the problems we would have if people still used drugs with fentanyl out there. There would be people dieing all of the time. Thank god the dare program taught me that doing drugs is like frying an egg on my brain. And boobies. they are bad also, somehow!~ Pins in the 1950's and early 60's were racier than the ones in the mid/later 80's.

sundays editorial page.

oh boy.

If I ever got a Creature from the Black Lagoon, I would want to swap in a PF with the naked chick on it. I think those are rare and have only seen one so far.

#4768 27 days ago

I never noticed the green chick on that BG. Ever since the original star trek, I have been in to hot green ladies!

#4769 27 days ago

I think the idea of that back glass is the green chick is the bride of the robot who is carrying her over the threshold. The chick in the foreground is like "green chicks get all the luck!"

One of my favorite backglassss.
I always got that “Forbidden Planet” vibe with it.

Quoted from kruzman:

If you make one with one size larger letters...? if its easy, make one and I will see how it looks.

Due to work and vacation, I didn't see this until now, apologies. Don't worry about it; I don't have any of the equipment ready with the move and all.

#4772 26 days ago

On one of the other TAF pfs I am clearing, I didnt notice the little holes along the edge of the triangle inserts and 4 coats ran down that hole and out the back. so on this one I made sure to fill it and paint it. The edge of the book always has the white cut and paste lines on the greed inserts, and a lot of the arow inserts need just a little tightening

Man, it been so long since I have posted a completed pf. Depression is probably what is slowing me down. Maybe heat and humidity. The pics automatically get put in their order so I am going to post the one pic I really dig, then I will post the rest. When I take pics I cant see what I am shooting from dropping my phone the screen is broken.

BY the way I finished this pf about 6 weeks ago and didnt like the finished product, so I sanded the crap out of it and did another 2 coats to try again.

The reason I remember is because I taped a note on the back that says dont forget to charge for 2 hours for the bastard star inserts!

some prep pics to prove I do work.

Seems common for me to get pfs with smashed corners. FRAGILE stickers dont seem to carry weight any more.
Nothing a file and some thinned out glue cant fix

Thanks! It’s a hard one to find, but great art and gameplay (same layout as 4 square). That’s the game I traveled the furthest to pick up, all the way to Albany from CBus… got food poisoning on the trip and had to get my wife to drive most of the way home… still worth it

OH! Food Poisoned on the road! You are so lucky you had your wife with you. I have had food poison 3 times in my life and 2 of those times I thought it was gonna kill me. I was hallucinating like crazy. I went to subway for lunch when I was running a 6 man construction crew. within 20 minutes of ingesting it, I was laying down on the job. I had no idea, the ride I was in for, and I had one of my employees drive me home. Of course the home owner made it all about them that I didnt finish on time. I shat the bed for 2 days and was back to work on the 4th. People and their deadlines. I still have the anger that I want to kick the shit out of the person who tried to kill me with that cold cut combo. That was 20 years ago, and still to this day, every time I eat out, I think to my self, is this going to almost kill me... the hard way. I dont know how painful cancer or a heart attack is, but food poison put the fear of god in me. In fact I called the ambulance for the first time in my life when I had covid, I was so sick,... and it wasnt as bad as that cold cut combo!!!

That ride home is prob something you both will remember the rest of your lives. I get so mad at people that dont give any thought do killing someone when they work in a restaurant. We pay them minimum wage to feed us. makes sense.

#4789 18 days ago

I am not sure what the parameters of gen Z are. I am a perfect example of gen x. All I know is my ex girlfriend's kid is 21. The difference between us is I know nothing about social media except it will be the tool that takes down out country. other than that I dont know memes and meeps and rotflmaoadwadima. On her end she doesnt know how to drive... or anything else. I doubt she will ever need to. she is very pretty but now sees her self as a they (I guess there are 2 of her, and her identity is based on how she likes to sex). She has zero ambition to leave the nest which is exactly what her mom wants since they are best friends. The mom (my ex) had her house bought for her by her parents, and my ex's daughter/son/they will live there until her mom dies.
Then not know she has to pay bills and taxes and will loose it.
Thats the future for her. I have huge hopes because she is super smart and can do anything, but she was never taught to start saving, so you have a car when you get your license on the day you turn 16. I all ready owned a car, and was saving to move out in 10th grade. Some of that had to do with the fact that me, my sister and mom all shared a basement 1 bedroom apt. So it was college or the navy, but I am leaving the day after I graduate. My mom didnt see us as her best friends and expected us to go. I would have expected to pay rent if I stayed. Why wouldnt I? she has to pay rent. I know I am special, but not that kind of special. ha.

Wow Ron...not exactly what I wanted to hear about food poisoning as myself and the family started our bout on Monday morning. First me and the youngest, then a day later the wife and the oldest kid. It hit them like a ton of bricks! They were happy and dandy at 3pm, and crapping/puking all over the place by 5pm. I'm still not 100 and they aren't either. That will teach us a lesson on eating out. We wanted an excuse to save some money in that department, here it is!

You bet! so many people that work in kitchens dont think about food pathogens, and how food illness can kill someone!!!! It scares the shit out of me because I cant even articulate how sick I was.

I am on the hunt for a couple pfs for a buddy. Please contact me if you have one or even if you have a lead on one.
I need a shadow
Flash gordon (as well as everyone else)
White water
who dunnit

If you are ever wondering about the pfs I have in stock, check mr pinball in the parts section. here is a link to that
https://user.xmission.com/~daina/parts/parts_for_sale.html

The people who do that sight have been doing it for free for over 22 years. They are the same folks who did the yearly reference guide (a bunch of sheets of paper bound together in order for reference, some called it a book)

Quoted from kruzman:

I have never seen one in action, I am very interested in it. I love all of the wide body sys 80

Quoted from A_Bord:

I know it isn't highly regarded, but that Pink Panther game has always charmed me.

I put it on the list after playing one at York one year. Finally found a light project and got it dialed in and looking decent. Still a players condition game but nice enough for me. I find it a fun game but you have to set it up fast and mean. The one I have, the multiball is tough to get as a fast shot to the lock holes just pushes through and passes by the locks. Ron, thinking about getting a couple more older NOS playfields done. No hurry on them but wanted to see where things were for you work Wise?

I like that back glass all lit up. I know with the wide sys 80's you need to rebuild all of your coil assemblies, and fresh rubbers and wax. Those pfs are so large that tyhey can play like a dog if they are not dialed in. I had a 007 and a black hole both with cleared pfs, and all rebuilt coil assemblies, and man those games played so fast they were BRUTAL! especially BH. I had that game 4 years, maybe 5 and I bet I got multiball less than 15 times and I played it all of the time.

Right now, in the shop, I am right where I like to be. enough jobs that I get to pick what I want to do that day, prep, hand sand, spray, polish, paint. Or like yesterday I epoxied inserts from behind on 4 older pf's well 3 older pfs and one TZ that I just want to go over board on.

If I do 2 days prep I can single coat 6 pfs in a long assed day, though most of the time I take 2 days. so because of that they tend to group in 5 or 6 pfs.

I had 3 nos wood rail pfs come in to add to the paint pile, but I finished the Giger pf paint work and 90% of the WCS, also one of the 2 TAF pfs that needed a little work, I got the pink panther ready for paint as well as the wizard, and SST. So next rainy [day I will paint those and the TZ.

One of my local friends got me a subscription to the sunday NY times. of course they wont deliver it to me, but they will to Kzoo (so I have to drive 25 miles to get it).
I take about 4 smoke/read breaks a day, since I work till dark. It really makes my day to read well written detailed articles about stuff I would have never known about, like all of the navy seals that are suffering from brain damage. Not because of IED's exploding near them in combat, but from the daily explosions from training with every thing from high cal weapons, morters, tanks, flash bangs. The seals train so much that the shock waves go thru their brain, and when they hit a different density of brain matter it causes scar tissue. so the damage is nothing like foot ball players. It seems to disable the person, most of the time when they are in their 40's and what happens to them is horrible. Its mis diagnosed as ptsd, and they end up killing them selves VERY often. It an alarming amount of suicides. A wife of one of them who shot himself in the heart so his brain could be studied, has been responsible for making the community aware, and what it takes to keep the brain fresh enough to be used. Come to find out when the times questioned the navy, ,the reply was "this is the first I am hearing about it".
I wont go one further, but every brain they have got a chance to examine all had the same, and no others outside the military have been found to have it..

So this is a good time to send jobs in. I have 4 going out in july and only 2 have come in this month. As long as you are not in a hurry. Its my usual time. no paint repro clear is 5 months. give or take a couple weeks depending on the title. and evil kenivel is so much less sanding and dremmiling than a LOTR.

Is anyone near Roscoe IL. evidently its close to the border of wisconsin.
I want to buy a pf off a fella who wont ship. He can hold it for when its convenient to grab, but I never go west of michigan city any more.
Its would be a wonderful favor. I think its in the cpr box and if you can ship it to me, on my fed ex acct, or I will reimburse you.

Or f someone is near there and will be coming east to north IN or west MI I will drive to meet ya. let me know if this sounds like something that would not be too much trouble.
Thank you, kruz aka Fronzie
