That is a fact.
Quoted from A_Bord:Man, the text on those inserts look awful (not your fault).
That is a fact.
This is a NOS Solar fire, that was in really nice condition, except a couple scrapes and also the usual gaps around the inserts. I still need to do one more coat on the mini pf/top half.
The 4 games of the Magna Save are so collectable. My favorite of them changes every couple years. It used to be Pharaoh, and before that BK of course. Now its this one, partially because its so rare.
Playing these games, restored, with a frictionless surface is a treat indeed!
Quoted from A_Bord:Man, the text on those inserts look awful (not your fault).
That “typewriter” font is such a weird choice. When I restored my playfield I actually considered changing it!

Interested if you are selling
Edit: just realized it's for a premium.
Let me know if you get your hands on a pro. I'm looking for one.
I got 83 new/nos pfs for sale, and you knuckle heads want the one I dont own.
This one belongs to a customer.
I did have a successful hook up this week. A guy in london was looking for a title, a couple months back. I made a post it for the closet door, and I saw one at a show, got it for him, and sending it to england.
yea!
so I will watch for one
And Coyote, your friends and family got a hold of me and I am not allowed to sell you any more pfs, until you deal with your addiction
Quoted from kruzman:And Coyote, your friends and family got a hold of me and I am not allowed to sell you any more pfs, until you deal with your addiction
NO. I need more wood art.
And trust me, I've looked at the fields you have. (MULTIPLE times...) And am tempted on about half of them. There's a few you do NOT have that I would drop a pretty penny immediately, tho - Ghostbusters, Data East JP..
Here is a beautiful 8 Ball Delux repro that I cleared for a client. Life happened and it didn't get installed, so it is for sale.
I cleared it about 2 years ago, and it has been here at the compound the whole time, so its ready to install!
$1300
Drop me a line if you have interest, questions, or an offer, or want to say HI.
Question Ron...is there a need for Cliffys or mylar ( in high areas like around bumpers ) once you clearcoat a playfield ? Thx
NO Mylar (except pads where balls are dropped on the pf)
cliffy or mantis protectors are a good idea. Not necessary if the kick up is aimed/positioned properly.
I like the way cliffys look.
The reason my clear takes 3-4 months is to make it hard, resilient, and last a lifetime.
No matter how many I have owned, I still get so excited when I get a NOS pf of an A-title game. I think Twilight zone would be one of the highest of the highs.
It was pretty cool to own that proto type pf with 3 mags a couple years ago, and I have owned probably 4 other NOS TZ.
BUT never one this nice. dam this pf is just beautiful. I cant find the flaw. it may be that there is a knot the size of a nickel under the art, and if you look at an angle you can see it in the reflection, I think that is the flaw.
A super cool client contacted me because he found it, and it was available. I asked him to buy it for me, and we would work it out, with the job I was doing for him. I really appreciate it when folks write or call me when they see a nos pf available that they dont want. I dont have the time to look. Also, I have found that if I look for NOS pfs, I end up buying everything that is for sale, weather it will ever sell or not!
I am not a huge fan of signatures, but surprisingly I like the Youssi scribble. I havent quite figured out the price yet. I am Him and Hawing on weather or not I should keep it in my collection.
With coins, and baseball cards, and other collectables like concert posters, there is a 3rd party company that grades them. The best part about it is then you can see how many there are out there, and in what condition. I have been saying for years, there cant be many out there? Every time one gets installed, there is one less NOS out there. This is the best NOS TZ I have seen or owned. So far.

You know this is exactly what I am looking for
Just wanted to say Ron your beautiful work to me is art. Carry on.
PS: Get out here to Allentown one of these years. We would love to have you.
Just saw the cactus jacks on your website. I'd love to have it for wall art, but being in Canada shipping would double its price at least hahaha.
Your work is incredibly impressive though!
Quoted from dmacy:Just wanted to say Ron your beautiful work to me is art. Carry on.

Ron comes to Allentown, I’ll be there, because I doubt I’ll ever be in MI
Quoted from kruzman:Here is a beautiful 8 Ball Delux
Only problem with that is the Mom jeans.
Quoted from RCA1:Only problem with that is the Mom jeans.
I had a problem with those jeans back in the early 80's. seriously, it killed the game for me.
Then a couple 3 years ago something unthinkable happened. The most unflattering jeans ever made came back in style. All of these beautiful young women, a slave to fashion, and wearing those horrible jeans. They dont look good on thin girls, not big girls, not tall girls, not thick girls. They dont even look comfortable to sit in. How can you breathe?
It took a life time to be proven, but there is obviously no art to fashion at all. It just recycles its self, as if it is premiering some revelation in art or beauty. Nope just repackage something that is old enough that people that are 18-24 have only seen in pics, and people who live out in the sticks. cash the check.
So yea. I dont like those jeans either.
And on the other end of the spectrum, now all sizes of women are wearing tights/yoga pants. They look great on some, but most that are wearing them shouldn’t.
Sorry for the thread detail.
After 11 years of no avatar on pinside, I finally found one, and no one has noticed.
I found it on a lost cat flyer in my neighborhood. There is a large reward. I am guessing because I dont think that cat will fare well out in the elements.
But what priceless pic!

Just curious how come they didn’t put the part number on the side where John’s signature is? Is this an early production or something
Quoted from mmr61184:Just curious how come they didn’t put the part number on the side where John’s signature is? Is this an early production or something
That is something I have never seen before. also there is the numbering of the screens in little letters below that usually. It always says 1st, 2nd, then 3, 4, 5....
It has just the 2nd right in the place, but without all of the other.
Coyote is the professor on TZ.
This came from a WPC employee that worked on this title. He owned it since they made it.

Thing is gorgeous I am curious what Coyote thinks he always has great insight too. Maybe even rarer of a playfield than just standard NOS
Back in the WPC days, not all fields had art that had the game's model number on it.
As I told a few others - I believe it's a mid-run Sun Process playfield. (Note: I accidentally mentioned it was LencSmith in statements made previously to folks...! I just mistyped; brain fart.) Based on the dates, it could be the FIRST run of SP playfields for the game - I do not know of anyone having an SP sample or proto field.
That would explain the lack of a model number, and the missing pop-bumper post holes. If memory serves, SP used their own file types for the wood work, and they also modified all the art-files to include "-SP" in the WMS part number (reference - plastics). So my educated and somewhat shot-in-the-dark guess is that it's a first-order from SP.
Why it was never used? .. Can't tell by looking at photos. It COULD be a 'test field' from SP for the WMS quality guy to approve before an order was placed. That would also explain the multiple date stamps on the edge of the field.
Again - conjecture. Having seen the photos - art-wise it looks like a d@mn good field. If I had a production-run TZ with an NOS field in it, I would freakin' seriously consider this field over a Mirco reproduction.

Thanks Coyote for the lesson. It’s an awesome looking playfield and as I have mentioned before we all know Ron knows his stuff so not a doubt in my mind if he says it’s genuine and beautiful than that’s good enough for me. The missing numbers threw me off never saw that before.
Quoted from gk_usa:I figured I'd post here, cause i'm talking to many experts in this area. If you get a chip on a playfield, is there something out there that will let you touch that spot up, like you would a car with a paint chip (paint + clear)? Like maybe a little bit of epoxy?
Quoted from kruzman:A pic would help, a lot. A couple things come to mind, but there are a million variables. So post a pic and I may be able to help. with the pic explain if the pf is a repro, nos, installed, and any other info.
Here is the picture. Finally took the glass off. Figured I'd snap a picture. It's hard to see but where I circled is all cracked. The edge of the kickout is less concerning. This is a newer Stern, Stranger Things.
Screenshot_20230508-083758 (resized).pngConcerning that stranger things damage. I sell an install kit. Included in it is a thinned out glue that is thinner than water, as well as so Hypodermic needles.
If you take the needle, and point the eye toward the cracked up clear. (pointing the needle 90 deg, in the ball hole) and just drip a couple drops, the wood and cracked clear will suck the glue under it, and stabilize that clear. Then install a cliffy.
That is my suggestion.
This is a perfect example of what the glue kit in the install kit is good for.
On the NOS gottlieb hulk and 007, and pink panther, I do this every where the planking is bad enough that if you rubbed it hard enough the material would crack off. It locks it down before I start sanding.
One more thing, I would run the needle of glue over that entire edge of that hole, to lock down all of the cracked material.
I finished this job sat. I would love to own a BSD with this or any of my cleared pfs
since then I have been making crates, packing pfs, and making cardboard boxes.
It takes me over 1.25 hours to double box a pf with cardboard when I dont have any boxes that size.

No the install kit is not on my web site. If you want one, just pm me at [email protected]
I do accept paypal for them. ($100 shipped in the us)
I cant find Richard Adamiec's email. If you know him will you please send him this fed ex tracking number for his ghostbusters.

Finally getting around to prepping pfs for another coat. I have been busy, blocking and polishing 4 or 5 pfs, and packing them all up, plus some sales, and built some crates.
It gives all of the pfs who have been coated time to fully cure between coats
This beautiful tron is ready for its last coat.
you will notice all of the low spots like dimples, as well as edges of holes, are all hand sanded, plus I dremmiled out the pop bumper and t nut depressions.
So I have been wanting a bakers rack to hold the pfs. presently they are leaning against the walls all around the studio. I will be able to put this in the corner of the studio and it will hold 50 pfs.
Problem is figuring how to get it out of the truck.
Its on casters, and there is no bottom, just a frame that holds the shelves that slide out. if I use my fork lift its going to go up in the shelves, also it wont be stable.
The wheels are mounted so it rolls forward and back with the front being the long side. I can lift it and replace one caster that swivels but I cant get to the other (in the back of the bed)
I will figure it out.
It was donated to my studio by J. Dayhuff. Thank you.
I didnt know that they have been remaking godzilla movies. They played 2 on tbs yeaterday. I was wrecked after cudding up a couple trees, so I watched them. Its too bad hollywood cant break away from the crap that they have to wreck every movie with. all of the characters are stereotypes, and there just has to be a kid that takes president over everything and is of course the moral compus. because children are beautiful uncorrupted innocent angels.
First off most child actors just suck
second I dont care for kids.
third most of the kids I know are far from a m0oral compus. they are sadistic little "lord of the flies" buggers that will take advantage of every single situation or person that they can!!!
Most kids I know dont want to protect godzilla. they want to kill it or see it kill others.
One movie had the divorced parents. both are genius scientific types, and the kid is the mediator, who always brings them back to gether, or makes them whats important.
I would rather watch guys on model sets in rubber suits, rather than the 12 year old kid who is smarter than her 2 PHD parents, (who never say no to her).
Is there some kind of cheezy rule that movies have to have the most over used cliché stereotypes. Millions of people are dieing every minute, but we need to use the army, and some helicopters to save my kid that ran away.
anyway now I see some of the things in the game like the O2 destroyer, which is a great thing on the game. 10 sec countdown to stress you out. I am glad for the visuals on the display they used the old monsters. Camp is way more fun that predictable.
Cheers to all of this.

I am just starting the prep on this cpr gold totan, and it is exactly like the last gold I did. The cut holes are full of burrs, which grabbed the clear, plus there are runs down most of them, and the sides.
If I leave this as is, my clear will make it even worse, and come installation, its going to be a lot of annoying issues to deal with. Stuff like this can either wreck the installed pf or at least the experience.
So I had to go thru with a file and a dremmil and clear out the sides and every hole.
IOf you go back 2 pages you will see before and aft pics of the last one I did like this.
If the owner took this to a hack or body shop, it would have been sprayed right on top of this stuff
I need to talk to the owner about the inserts. most are not centered and you can see the edges. I will leave it as is, or I will fix it. Its not cheap to repaint all of the inserts. there are like 6 that dont need to be painted. I all ready put an hour and a half cleaning up the cur outs. So if this is yours drop me a line, and let me know.

I wonder if this is a digital print playfield? I have a first run screened playfield that has a much better finish. I did block it and dust it with 3 coats of clear.
IMG_0837 (resized).jpegIMG_0838 (resized).jpegIMG_0839 (resized).jpegIMG_0840 (resized).jpegQuoted from Pinballemporium:I have a first run screened playfield that has a much better finish
Looks already sanded by Ron, which is why it's hazy..
Yes that pf is sanded. This pf is from the very first run. It is a graded pf (gold) and they dont do the grades on the digital pfs. for some reason that first run of totans and one other title that they made that year has the leveler or sealer dripping down the edges like this and the last one I did.
But if you didnt know that has been prepped, it has been sanded. The pics were taked after DA sanding and before hand sand and dremmil, and file.
