Only vid game that I would put a quarter in….

I never got very good at Vids. I graduated in 86' so robotron, and defender, shit even asteroids I sucked at. I just didnt like them. (galaga was fun to hit the button as fast as possible)
I did like the old school shoot games from the late 60's early 70's I would find up north, in the bars. Or that old sub hunter video game. though there was no video. I think it was a screen , with slides moved across it.

After I run a polisher on the pf for 5 or 6 hours, I bring it in the house to thread a rag thru all of the holes to get the polish compound out of there. Then I set it in the living room to wipe down with a micro fiber and apply a coat of wax.
I noticed this complete mata hari waiting to go out to the shop to be cleaned up and wiped down, but the reflection was so perfect and undistorted, I tried to get a pic

I rolled a perfect 300 on this cpr mata hari. Christensens art is so beautiful, and I am so inspired by the clear bringing out the depth of the colors and contrasts.
Most people know I have to deal with being manic, obsessive compulsive, and nothing is better when you are on an up wave. This pf has put me in such a mood I am like a giggling 13 year old girl.
Of course when my brain chemicals are bad, this pf still wouldnt be enough to get me back to base line. Its no fun for the people (who used to be) around me.

I hit send before I wrote that the inserts all showed wood or the edge of the insert down on the tail of the arrows, so all of the arrow inserts got double coated. That was all that got painted. You cant see but I double coated the back with poly also.

#2506 1 year ago

The 3x bonus insert should have a bright light or something to draw attention to it. 55 and still love boobies!

#2507 1 year ago

If you ever decide to clear a cpr mata hari yourself, make sure to sand the wood grain level on the black paint. If you dont sand that perfectly flat, the clear will magnify the wood grain and the valleys between the grain. It will magnify the texture.

#2508 1 year ago

Damn Ron, that Mata Hari is slick!

#2509 1 year ago

Damn you do good work Ron. That Mata Hari looks great! I am giggling like a school girl on my work too. I attended the 50th Anniversary tour of YES "Close to the Edge" Album. A magical night with psychedelic imagery and fantastic sounds.

I finally finished populating the Dr Who PF that you cleared. The sun was shining just right over the horizon and I used it to illuminate the PF inserts from the backside on the rotisserie.

Wow you made short work of that game. awesome!!!
was the yes show inside or out? I am crazy for when bands play a whole album. I saw pearl jam play no code in 2014(one of my fav albums in moline. I have 2 different versions of it recorded). I wanted to see dark side of the moon so bad I actually saw a tribute band called britt floyd do it, and it could have been better than the floyd, it was pretty dam good, plus no Waters ranting about isreal

I ask about the yes show being in or out side because I just went to a blliy strings show. this is blue gress, with a little blues mixed in, but still no drums. stand up bass, fiddle, gituar and mandolin. It was so loud that every time the fiddle got up in the high range it caused me pain. it was like in a clockwork orange when they made him watch ultra violence all day. Can you imagine blue grass so loud that it causes pain?
When billy strings talked between songs, I had no idea what he said. There was a 2 sec echo that was 80% as loud as the first time. It was because of the venue and the butthole on the sound board, turning it up to 11.
I walked out at the end of the 5th song. I had great seats thru the fan club. 2 days later the show was on you tube, sound from the board before it went to the pa. It wrecked my day it sounded so beautiful. I wrote a letter to wings stadium (the venu). I used to work there and I have seen plenty of good sounding shows there. man it pissed me off. waste of 150 bucks.

I would kill to see that yes show playing "close tot he edge" but if the sound sucked, I would be suicidal.

#2511 1 year ago

Ron, It helped that I had populated and then depopulated the donor board, plus I had a shit load of new screws ready to go.

YES was played indoors at the Historic Warner theater in Washington DC. I was in row F on the right side. 6 rows back from a stack of a eight vertical speakers staring me in the face (see first picture right side). The acoustics of that place is phenomenal. They had the sound set to just right for me. Only occasionally did the bass guitar reverb my chest but not my ears. Although there was only one original member (Howe on left), they played great!

I saw Clockwork Orange at 18 years old when it first came out and it was X-rated with 2 lady friends. It shocked me, but I loved the Beethoven music. "No time for the old in-out, just here to read the meter." LOL.

Its snowing cats and gophers out there today, so I finished a rare Bansi run cpr repro, and i have to shoot the pics inside. not nearly the dramatic effect of outside. Anyway use you imagination, or focus on the reflection of the light bulb

any chance for a sneak peak and status of curing for that GNR playfield that arrived no long ago? I can't wait to see it here.

Its that time of year where I plan my work around the weather. The good thing is it changes pretty quick. The bad thing is it changes pretty quick.

I will detail the madness a bit more. I dont have a plow for the kubota L3400, but a loader. It took 2 hours to plow and shovel, and I destroyed my back. it was 12-15 in (just from last night) when I was out there. Its still blasting snow so bad I cant see the tree that is about half way to the road, so that tree is at about 400-450 ft. Going back out to do some more painting. may be a good weekend to build crates, as well as I realized that my roof trusses are sagging between an inch and almost 2 in where someone put up a beam to have a tall door. They got rid of 3 trusses and put in a beam 16 ft that just connects to the remaining trusses. So these trusses are made of 1 by material, and are 28-30 feet long. The Beam is attached with hangers at the peak of the trusses, and they didnt put any posts up to support. The trusses are just sitting on a 2x4 wall. I have been here since 05, but I just noticed the sag in the middle of the trusses, so I am going to get some steel posts of the ends of the trusses, and in the middle I am going to build one that supports under the center of the truss, and goes up to the peak of the truss and get under that beam. so that is a little over 16 ft. I am going to buy 16' 2x8's. I am sure they are going to be pricey. Lowes doesnt carry basement posts any more so I gotta find those. I am going to look if there is a habitat for humanity store in kzoo soon and see if they have some, because I am sure they are stupid expensive now days.
I was a remod/builder for 21 years, and I threw away so much materials back in the 90's that I would fight for the dumpster dive, now

Quoted from zerbam:

Ok then. I am going to put my 8 bags of 60lb sand in the back of the 2wd f250, and head to menards.
I will have to build 2 posts for the middle of the trusses because I want them to support under the middle, and then straight up from the middle is where they hung the beam (to put in a tall door so a RV can be parked in there). Its been a while since I got to over build something. Its not as much fun now with the price of materials, but it does make the process less burdensome. I would rather work on pf's

I finished a WPT yesterday, that I will try to shoot pics of today

That my dream project: to restore a kubota from the 80's. they are the coolest tractors since the 1930's. I have been watching for about 12 years now. Everything is so far, I dont have the truck for a 800 mile trip. I did pick up a JD 850, when I went to look at a kubota. It came with a sweet snow plow system. It was parted at a hospital for 20 years to push the snow on the sidewalk. It came with a never used 72" deck, and a post hole digger, and a soft cab. I fixed it up and sold it to my neighbor across the st. By the way he never offers to let me use that sweet plow when I am out there doing it with my loader!
I learned a good plow system makes for a much cleaner job. warmer with that cab.

I almost bought a M series in 06 when I bought the L series. It was just in the 30's with a loader. I got the l3400 new with the loader and 7.5 back hoe for 23000. I have less than 350 hours on it, and its never slept outside, except a couple times when I left it on the trailer for a job the next day. Please send me a pic of your tractor or post it

As a full-blooded suburbanite, I envy you guys with those amazing Kubotas out there. I've seen them many a time in my travels (generally on construction/job sites) and I've always dug their design and aesthetic. To hear about their prowess in the field just seals the deal for me. Those big, gnarly rear wheels, that smack-you-in-the-face orange. I don't know wtf I'd do with one of those, but I still really want one anyway I came to this thread for the artistry, never expected to get led into a tractor obsession lol

Williampinball That's the coolest thing I've seen on the Internet today, bravo on a resto done right

Thanks bud it took me 3 years in the making too restore this but well worth it for sure now I just need lots more land so I can really enjoy it but everyone near me enjoy this also I do there driveways also

That thing is a monster! I dont think I have driven one that size before, when I see it next to your van

I totally agree with frunch about the design of the kubotas. What I think is so cool is everything is 100% form follows function, but yet they still achieve a cool distinctive design. I dont have time to look for a pic right now, but the real old stuff form the 80's looks so different than anything else.
I think the era of my kubota is really tame and soft looking, but maybe if I make it another 20 it will look different compared to whats being made. I know the tractor will make it another 20.

This time of year, I fill my loader with firewood, and bring it right up to the door of all 3 buildings. I can barely handle all of the handling of firewood with the tractor. if I had to hump 20 face cords a year, I would be in amazing shape, though more likely just having natural gas run to the place.

If anyone has a CPR The Addams Family gold playfield, that they want to sell, please send me an email, I have a customer looking for one.

Got some pf porn: this is a wpt that really came out nice. I have this game in my living room, and it would be wild to play with a zero friction pf. I think of all of the steve ritchie games with cleared pfs would be insane, like balls floating like on ice.

Quoted from kruzman:

Here is some good news concerning the WPC pfs.
here is the email of the owner. The reason he is going thru me is he knew I wanted my stuff to go to good homes.. Please first mention you are one of my people. I would very much appreciate that.
[email protected]
His name is chad. I can say confidently that there is no chance of a rip off , scam or anything else.
Here is the letter he wrote this morning, when I said there is so much demand that I cant sell these without having them here to answer questions.
"I can send pictures as you need them. You’re welcome to share my email if your listing what’s available for me. My main objective was to make sure the playfields of high interest end up where you like them. Anything received that doesn’t meet a customer’s expectations will be refunded in full plus shipping. Listing them all might be fun to watch, I’ll handle shipping and whatever questions need my attention. "
So go ahead and get a hold of him.

I thought I would post my recent interaction and purchase from Chad. Fantastic, simple, fast and fair.

I have followed this thread for a long time now, and when I see a completed playfield... I get all worked up about how I wish I had one.

Well now I do! I reached out to Chad, had an easy conversation, got great pics, more than once when asked, got what I thought was a fair price delivered, and received my Funhouse playfield today, safely wrapped and quickly shipped.

Thanks Chad, big thanks to Ron for your work, the FH playfield looks as good in real life as they do in the pictures here.

Great start to my day. awesome it worked out for you. I really appreciate this network of pinheads/pf people, which includes pinside. I do have a facebook acct, but I dont really post on there, but I can be found. Its fun to be part of a group that can help locate something as rare as new pfs.

I have cleared a lot of pfs for chad and he has been super supportive, so I am super happy I could help him, and who ever got one. I know steve is getting an I500 (he restores that title. he is an I500 specialist).

You have to admit it is pretty cool of chadly to offer up his pfs to anyone who needs one. Some NOS pfs are as rare as chicken teeth, or a sorority girl without HPV. Even better yet, he didnt price them at a stupid price and say take it or leave it. Its always a bummer when you want a rare pf, and when you find one its just totally unreasonable. I do know he paid a lot for what he has. I try not to be the highest price, but I only sold him a couple.

I have been focusing on pfs for 15 years now it seems. I can think of several pfs I had to sell that bum me out so bad. I dont make enough to afford most of the pfs that I want so bad. The way I look at it, is I try to enjoy the short time I get to have them. My rule is even if I buy it for me, I make my self list it as available, and if someone buys it, I have to sell it. Since I am so many years behind on projects, I would have all of the pfs, and no one else would have any!.

The NOS pfs that I have owned that come to mind are:
several IJ's
rocky
amazing spiderman
incredible hulk
proto TZ
Most of the sys 11 titles in diamondplate which is very cool
asteroid anne
genie
Iron maiden and viper/classic sterns
charlies angels EM (after dayhuff spent 10 years looking for one, and sold the game)
several TAFG
Anyway I finally got a pf that I have wanted since day one. It was the second game I owned, and its a licensed game that I love the license and the game. In fact in my opinion the 3 greatest games made are IJ, DEGnR, and wiz of oz. I may add godzilla if I still love it after a couple years.
So I got this nos GNR that I cleared for chad years ago, and he didnt install it. This is the first pf I have owned that I am keeping for me.
I have a JJP GnR also and I want to hang both in my office. I am bummed I sold my roached out, used GnR to someone, because it would be cool to have that on the wall again also.

The other pf title I would kill for is a pabst with dirty donny's art. I doubt that one will ever happen.

I dont have the money right now, but I will be in the market for the game soon. I have owned 3 of them. I think one of my mine is still in the detroit area. I forgot the fella's name I sold it to (chucks partner on the pin2000 boards). After april 15th.

Quoted from Pinball-Ike:

I thought I would post my recent interaction and purchase from Chad. Fantastic, simple, fast and fair.
I have followed this thread for a long time now, and when I see a completed playfield... I get all worked up about how I wish I had one.
Well now I do! I reached out to Chad, had an easy conversation, got great pics, more than once when asked, got what I thought was a fair price delivered, and received my Funhouse playfield today, safely wrapped and quickly shipped.
Thanks Chad, big thanks to Ron for your work, the FH playfield looks as good in real life as they do in the pictures here.

I think chad is one of the few that wraps better than me

I heat the shop and the studio with wood, and I have electric heat as a back up to keep it above 49. Same with the guest house and garage, except with a propane boiler. So I process a lot of firewood. It all comes from my land, and anyone who has a tree drop usually calls me. I will pick up wood on the side of the road.

As for this log it was obviously happy to see me, but my saw did not care for it. I live in a one light town that was settled in the 1840-50's and a oak at one of the original houses was cut down because the new owner wanted nicer lawn. I saw a team tackling the job and I had to butt in and include my self. Within 30 min I had my truck, trailer, loader and saws on the job. we counted over 150 rings on this tree, and they were goin to sell it to a sawmill but when the buyer saw big blue runs inside the trunk, they couldnt use it, because that meant there was iron somewhere in there... and I finally found it. I have been cutting up this tree for 3 years now and I still have more than half. I dont have a saw long enough to slice off a chunk. I have to rip and split to get some logs off the big 8 chunks in my yard

Looks like white oak, some of the best burning wood around. It's awesome that that tree didn't go to waste.

I have been working on this pf for so long, that I am going to start at the beginning for those of you that were not born yet when I found it.
The pf and 23 others came from a man who was the floor mgr at linc smith. He really liked his job, and he tried to save one of each of the pfs that went thru in that era starting in 91. Many of them were proto/sample pfs. I found out that some games were so straight forward they didnt really do a test run, and all that they went thru with TZ.
So this is a very special pf, and in my 15 years I havent seen one, even back in the day, when the nos stuff was a plenty. So when I posted this for sale, I was thinking, kruzman you finally hit pay dirt. they are selling IJ's for 3k, I can buy a car with this one.
This is one of those things the collector in me hates to sell, but I ran across a fella here on pinside that used to work in an arcade, and they ran a proto TZ in their location, and he ended up buying the game, years later. (That is another story in its self)
He was the he second or third person to get a hold of me knew the pf exactly. he knew all of the little differences, and could tell between proto and sample, and he even had a game with a trashed pf that was a match for this pf. I had to make sure he got the pf which he did. It was still super expensive, but I charged the same price as the other non IJ A-tier games. (I didnt get an IJ in the group. he wanted to keep that)

So my work started with gluing and clamping some lifting on the bottom edge of the back laminate from sitting on cement for 28 years. It has just a slight warp to it, so I mounted some wood blocks that it would sit in when up against the wall to keep it from warping more. I drilled and dimpled it, and sanding and prepping was so stressful. I double coated the back with poly, and I painted all of the inserts in the door, and about 70% of the rest of them. I waited a month or more in between coats. The buyer was in no hurry and needed to save money, and I finally got it done today!!!! One of the things I really like is I didnt have to re-do it, even once so it has my minimal thickness of clear (8 coats). So its doesnt look far from stock, just the finish is richer and deeper.
I am going to post a bunch of pics so sorry if it is too many, but after more than a year, this pf deserves it. I am so happy, and it is not often that I am happy that it is leaving. I couldnt have dreamed of a better home for it

Quoted from Dono:

Yep its the white oak. Burns fantastic and the bark pops off, so not to bring the bugs and dirt inside. Once they knew the trunk was not going to be used, They were cut in to 30-40 in lengths and my loader couldnt even come close to lifting them. It was all way too big to expect it to get picked up by the neighbor people for free wood, and way to big for them to handle for profitable firewood. so the job boss used his skid and dump trailer to bring 2 or 3 at a time to my house and dump them in the yard.
I hate cutting live/healthy trees. Even if it is crap wood like poplar or mulberry, I still cut and split it and use it. waste not..... I have found tree guys like to sell firewood, but even though they get it free, in fact they get paid to take it, there is so much labor involved that they only use the best, perfect sized, straight limbs. And only the good wood. SoI am always stopping at jobs to let them know that they can dump at the compound for free if it will save them time. I will gladly pay for a dump truck of big limbs.

This second picture confirms something I've thought but was never confirmed ..
The very early samples had the post near the bottom pop bumper a lot closer to said pop bumper. In the playfield in my game, the hole appears to have been patched - AFTER the CNC work, but BEFORE the printing was done! This field it doesn't look like it was patched.

It looks goooooooooddd... I'm drooling.
