Koko, the Lowland Gorilla passed away today at age 46.
If you are not aware, Koko learned sign language and communication of thousands of words.
She shared an array of human emotions, from empathy, to humor.
For myself and my wife, she was an inspiration.
I did several reports on her, and was fascinated by her disposition and communication.
Perhaps that she was in our home on videos with frequency, it inspired my daughter to learn sign language and to become
a professional with children in this field.
What is worth mentioning, in addition to the hopes one might catch a video, is what she taught about humanity.....a funhouse mirror
view, in a way, of overselves.
In this aspect, I find her part of a great read....nebula winning Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn....as important today as when written.
Ishmael is a talking Gorilla, giving that perspective on mankind.
Heres a fun video with Robin Williams

In our Hobby, Congo, as a book by Michael Chrichton, had shared Koko as an influence for Amy.
Koko, on her own taught her children sign language, and communicated with them this way too.....mind boggling.
