I will honch. I'm in pa now. Graduation party tomorrow...rides and pinball on Monday. Sweet!
Quoted from spfxted:Looks like I'll be at Knoebels on Monday the 21st. Probably afternoon.
Just updated WOZ with the 4.0 code so you'll be able to try it out. Have a great time and enjoy the park!
Arcade and park just keeps getting better. For those that don't know, Knobels has an insane Halloween celebration on weekends in the fall. Nothing like Pinball and Coasters in the cool fall air.~SpOoKy
Excellent! So, did you get on that new coaster? The wait was to long for it when I was there, it was well over an hour.
YES! It was great! Even on Monday we waited a little over 45 minutes! Very different not being on tracks! I would have gone again if there was no wait...
....years ago, my cousin knew 50% of everyone there...now, it's like a MiniDisneyland!
Quoted from spfxted:The trip was fun! Party was great! Food was outstanding.
Went to the Park on Monday and it was STILL pretty full! Played WOZ (wow!) They also had Star Trek LOTR, Twilight Zone...
Glad to hear you had a great time, and I love the pics!
Quoted from spfxted:YES! It was great! Even on Monday we waited a little over 45 minutes!
Nice! Since it's such a nice drive, I might ride my bike up there just to try it out.
Should also note that the WOZ is the limited edition.
Awesome park, and a nice lineup of pins. They are bolted to the floor, so it makes nudging a little more difficult...but still fun none the less.
Quoted from Honch:Hey Ted, if you get on that new coaster give us your review of the ride. I didn't get a chance to ride that puppy when I was there.
It's a fun ride! A little short, but fun.
Quoted from asay:They are bolted to the floor, so it makes nudging a little more difficult...but still fun none the less.
Oh? I nudged WOZ pretty good. Didn't realize they were bolted down...
Quoted from spfxted:Oh? I nudged WOZ pretty good. Didn't realize they were bolted down..
Me neither.
Quoted from asay:They are bolted to the floor, so it makes nudging a little more difficult.
They're definitely not bolted down....
Quoted from PinballJon:They're definitely not bolted down....
Theater of Magic/Pirates of the Caribbean in the smaller arcade were when I was there a few weeks ago. Now that I think about it the floor in playland is concrete so those machine probably aren't bolted.
Quoted from spfxted:Aarrggghhh! I didn't realize there WAS a smaller arcade!
Yup, there's only 2 pins there though. I think if you go out that door by the pinball machines in your picture, they're in the building straight across where they have the 4D theater.

Ummm...nope, not them either. Honestly, I don't even know how you would bolt them down. But here's a couple pics for you nonetheless. image.jpg

Sorry you missed them! I assumed you knew they were there or else I definitely would have mentioned it to you. Well, now you'll just have to make another trip
Quoted from PinballJon:Ummm...nope, not them either. Honestly, I don't even know how you would bolt them down.
I must have been imagining something then...for some reason I remember the TOM and Pirates feeling hard to nudge...it was a long day though.
Quoted from PinballJon:Well, now you'll just have to make another trip
True! Probably Thanksgiving...
Quoted from Philk:Come on Jon be honest, there's gum underneath those level levelers right? jk
Dang it Phil, you caught me!
BTW: I was 30 million off from beating your Grand Champion score on TOM tonight....one of these days buddy, one of these days! Haha
Quoted from Honch:Anybody ever go up their for their Halloween events?
I've been a few times. Its cool. Not all the rides are running but the coasters are and most of the rides near the Phoenix. They turn the antique cars as well as train into haunted rides. They also sell other food like pumpkin pie etc. Great time to get in a few coaster rides and, of course, pinball.~SpOoKy
Jon would have to confirm but as I think last year for Halloween playland & the saloon were closed? I know i'm the only nut that goes there strictly for pinball but figured I'd say mention the possibility so that no ones gets there hopes up haha.
I'm surprised you haven't murdered that score yet Jon!

They were closed last year when we went for Halloween too. But we went during the day so maybe after dark?
Even so... We had a blast!
I too think the arcades were closed last year, but not the year before? Crowded? Yes.... But zero wait times for either coaster. And they had very cool Halloween Clothing like hoodies and such for sale. Even the Carousel was playing songs like: The monster bash and theme music from the Adams Family. Still a cool event~SpOoKy
Quoted from spfxted:Is it super crowded?
I'd think it would depend on the time of year, but I've never had any issues with crowds in any areas of the park. As far as the arcades, when I was there a couple weeks ago the arcade was packed with people playing redemption machines, but I was the only person playing pinball for 1hr+.
The covered bridge festival is typically crazzzyy busy but people are also busy with the different vendors so the rides aren't terrible. Halloween isn't too bad, there is also a really fun haunted house that is put on by the fire company within 5 minutes the park. If you're coming up to do Halloween definitely hit that up as well, although the lines for that can be a little long (and not necessarily real little kid friendly since there's people chasing you with chainsaws) but they also have a concession stand as well (as my memory serves)
Back from five days at the park and campground. Great time. Played the new Star Trek and Wizard of Oz. I might have to say that Theater of Magic is still my favorite. It's the one I least suck at. Never got around to the Flying Turns. I'll ride it next year when everyone else is standing in line at the next newest ride.
Those are great pics JeffZee!
Also, I see several people have been asking about the Covered Bridge weekend and Hallo-Fun nights. I'm happy to say that Playland will be open this year for both events! My October is already full, but I'll make a point to get to a Hallo-Fun night for 2015.
Jon, are there any pictures showing the evolution of the Knoebles arcades over the decades (especially the pin line ups)? Did any arcade equipment survive the big floods?
There's a decent hardcover Knoebles history book that's worth the read. As I recall it's only availible at the Carousel Museum gift shop.
Quoted from JeffZee:There's a decent hardcover Knoebles history book that's worth the read.
Sounds like something I'd like to read as I've been going there for over 50 years!

I'll have to see if there's any pictures from the past. We have a few around there, but nothing extensive. Surprisingly enough, a lot of equipment survived the big floods. There's a lot of games in there that have made it through more than one flood. I posted about the flood of 2011 on RGP at the time. I just found it and provided a link below. The 3 pins that were in the arcade at the time all survived the flood and are going strong today. POTC and LOTR are still there and have work like a charm, and Avatar, which we sold over the winter, also worked very well for us. I didn't expect the pins to even turn on, but I was very surprised to see how much equipment was able to be saved. There's a link in the RGP post to pics, and I'll put that direct link below too.

Just wanted to take a minute and thank all those that came out this season, shared pics, or added posts to the thread. It's always nice seeing familiar faces as well as meeting some new folks along the way, and the pics and posts were great! The pins will be torn down, cleaned up, and repaired over the winter, and hopefully we can make a change or two to the lineup as well. Thanks for a great season and we'll see you in the spring!
Jon
Hi there. Anyone in that area have a pinball machine for sale. My cousin wants to get one. (he lives 2 minutes from Knoebels) Isn't CoinTaker in Sunbury? Do they have any nicely priced machines? Better to wait for Allentown?
