I wanted to add some highlight color/brightness to some dark play field areas on this Klondike. The new plastic from Pinball Rescue was crying out for additional light under the tree without overpowering the new white reel score emblems (thanks Mr.Pinball). I placed a Comet 6 volt three-light green strip here.IMG_1343_(resized).JPGIMG_1343_(resized).JPGIMG_1343_(resized).JPGIMG_1343_(resized).JPGIMG_1341_(resized).JPGIMG_1341_(resized).JPGIMG_1291_(resized).JPGIMG_1291_(resized).JPG
Then the to the dark center play field where I could never determine when I was in a higher score range from reel alignment. After cleaning/polishing the inserts from the bottom I installed a Comet Supreme Brightness non-ghosting bulb in position 1,a slow blink warm white in positions 2 and 3,a fast blink natural white in position 4,and a fast blinking color changing bulb in the Special. Under this a 6 volt 7 light green strip was placed and wire to the slingshot. Basically the green center positions are always on and blink when the reels line up. I could not obtain a good picture but it came out great.IMG_1340_(resized).JPGIMG_1340_(resized).JPGIMG_1342_(resized).JPGIMG_1342_(resized).JPG
I also place a Comet 3 green strip under the apron to light up the flipper area a little. 2 Comfort Bright bulbs under the slingshots, a slow and fast blink under each upper side plastic, and two comfort bright under the pop-up post, and it was done. I did not like the LED lights under the side lane guide plastics( thanks PBR) since they looked an ugly green, they stayed traditional.

Overall I'm really happy with these improvements. Not going crazy as I like the combination of old/new. The upper side plastics may go back to a warm white but the sequential flash leading to the kickoff holes is fun for now.IMG_1344_(resized).jpgIMG_1344_(resized).jpg

Very Creative! I like the look!

This was the first game I put LEDs in. 1978.
Red ones from a TI Calculator in the reels too!

This machine is my hot rod, I've souped it up with rebuilt flippers, slingshots, pop bumpers, all new coil sleeves and mylar around the bumper skirts. It stays waxed and the transformer is set on high.It is unmerciful when it decides to go down, unpredictable from top field to lower, but after 600 or so games you have one like this;IMG_1290_(resized).JPGIMG_1290_(resized).JPG
Truly a gambling machine with a little skill involved.I might try your red LED trick, I really love the play of Klondike!

Nothing better than three Wagons on Klondike/Gold Rush.....

I just brought home a Klondike.
It's going to need a few things for sure. Time to strip down playfield and clean it up so I can do touch ups and clearcoat. Always look forward to see how it comes out when finished.

Klondike is the one EM I will never sell. Its quirky, unpredictable play receives little love from most, but I like it. I would like to install a triple Gottlieb chime unit this Winter. A brighter Flipper Post red LED.
Your machine looks great, the jackpot units and especially the plastic, I had to replace both.
When its right its fast and fun!

I agree. Its a game I owned for several years, and the slot reels, with game play
was always a thrill to play.

I put LEDs in the Reels, in the 70's...My First LED Game!
(Maybe first ever?)

This game will clean up real Nice!

Thanks for the memories...........
