I've been begging for the KISS playfield to get reproduced for years, so of course I signed up when the preorder started. I bought the IPB plastics set and backglass years ago, and have been waiting for a nice playfield. Watched the UPS notifications daily, mine arrived yesterday.

There was a mark right along the packing tape/outer box seam, a small puncture. I didn't notice it as much of an issue until I opened the outer box to see a pinky tip sized puncture through the inner cardboard box. I picked up my phone, fearing the obvious/worst, to document it as I revealed what was going on.

Something punctured right through the outer box tape/opening/seam. Went through the inner box, and unlucky me, was the same side as the top of playfield. Punched through the paper wrapping the playfield. Playfield has a nasty divot, fairly deep. I don't know what would have done this? Metal rod? A sharp corner of something wouldn't have made this blunt end looking puncture/damage. Pics below.

I emailed Kevin and CPR's customer service email and I'm confident they'll take care of me, but I'm anxious about the process. I'd be devastated if this leaves me with no playfield. At this point, I'd pay the extra for a Gold (I bought silver) or settle for a 2nd. I'm at work, but checking my email constantly. This was UPS - has anyone dealt with a claim like this? Any advice? Thanks so much for your time.

    well that sucks!
Can't blame CPR I just got a PF for my Xenon
and you can't ask for much better protection.
Give you 300 for it if they let you keep it.

UPS absolutely blows. They’ve lost so much stuff on me. I’d refuse to use them completely. One time I was home with the garage open and they THREW a $300 neon sign in and left. Literally never saw the truck. I just heard some ruckus, I went outside to investigate, saw the box. The dude must have ran track because he was in and out like the flash.
Luckily the packaging saved the neon but I was pretty pissed

Oh, I don't blame CPR or their packing. What more packing could you ask for? A sheet of MDF over it? UPS punched the package somehow. Makes me sick.

That is terrible. One little puncture and look. I went and found my UPS guy yesterday and got mine early in the day. When he opened up the back door, there it was standing up in the middle of the floor. I've seen trucks so loaded down w/boxes you could not walk through them. Fed Ex is no better. Worse if you ask me. Hate this happened for you.

    ouch, thats nasty

I am sure Kevin will help you out but just wondering if the pf are insured. Also, did you have to sign for the package? Anytime I have to sign, I sign it STI (Subject To Inspection) in case I find issues after opening as all freight companies never want to wait around for you to inspect the item.

    UPS just drops and runs.
When I got my xenon I just
happen to be outside, asked if I needed to sign anything.
Nope....handed it to me and drove off.

It wasn't set up for a signature to be required. Just UPS. I didn't really question if these are insured, I just assumed so. It was $800 + shipping.

UPS is the worst. I shipped a playfield a year ago and they lost it, I mean they LOST IT and so did I!! It took me 4+ months (yes months) of relentless calls, emails, faxes......you name it to get them to pay the insurance on it ($700). Plus it was in a wooden crate that weighed 35 lbs. That was it, I vowed to never ship again through them.

Sorry about your luck, hopefully you have better results then I did.

Yeah mine is to come tomorrow so was wondering!

    UPS is the worst

They all are anymore. I use to ship few hundred packages a month and used USPS, UPS, DHL and FedEx. The biggest issue is not with the drivers it's the workers at the terminals. They hire anyone, pay them 9$ an hour. One time I filed a claim with UPS and mentioned that I place Fragile stickers and all on it. UPS rep told me that the only decals they recognize is Hazardous decals. I mentioned this to my driver the one time and he advised "yeah if you put fragile on the package it only winds up being thrown around like a football at the terminal".

BTW - FedEx also advises they don't recognize any decals other then hazardous so if you're using FedEx and UPS don't waste money on fragile stickers

Update - I made contact with CPR, Kevin emailed me and is taking care of it. I knew they would. I was just anxious about the UPS situation/process as I was afraid they'd sell out/run out. All should be good! I'll be placing another CPR order very, very soon!

I got the KISS project going on 20yrs ago. Rough cabinet, no boards, worn playfield. Game had smoke damage from a fire, so everything yellowed/oxidized.

Parted out an even worse game years ago with a rotten playfield - using that harness actually, and will use new sockets, standup targets, etc etc..

Have IPB plastics set and backglass, the hot stamped bumper caps, etc.. it'll be about half new and half original, but oh well. Love this hobby!

I bought just the lower kiss cabinet with a Kiss playing field.
This thing had been left out in the weather so long that the whole
back fell apart when I loaded it up, so I did a total from playing field up
restore. Got an empty silverball Maniac cabinet, all new boards.... etc.
    And built my own.

    Good luck with your restore.

    Duuuuuuuuuuuude! That's a buzzkill.
    Shake it off.

mine arrived yesterday but I didn't open it until this AM. Package looked like Joey_N's. Tape blown out at the top and bottom but the seam held. There was a puncture also but I didn't see any damage but I will check thoroughly tonite.

    It is beautiful!

How have you all been contacted with order details ? I am on the pre-order and have been for a long time, but have yet to hear anything from them. Also, their website no longer shows KISS on any of the pages.

Looks like Gene Simmons stuck his tongue through that box.

I've noticed over the years that UPS is a lot more rough on packages and other shipping companies. I generally stick to USPS or FedEx as a result, and haven't had any serious problems with damaged packages.

In fact, FedEx is generally preferred in the movie/tv prop collector community because they aren't as rough on packages and aren't quite as difficult to work with when there is a problem.

I ordered in Nov or Dec.

Nobody cares about your package. Slave jobs, just going to get worse. Doesn’t matter if it’s ups, usps, fedex..

You couldn't order one in Nov or Dec. You could only get your name on the pre-order list.

You may want to send them a reminder. I would forward them the original email from when you got on the pre-order list and ask them how things are looking for your playfield.

    They are very nice.

I hope they do the Kiss plastics too. The old ones are about all gone now (plus they weren't very good in the first place).

CPR's plastic sets are way better quality.

Will do, thanks. I've been worried I'd get forgotten or lost in their system.

Same here. I was on the pre-order list since Nov. 2017. Got an email today that my position on the list came along and placed an order for a Gold grade right away.
