The Kiss i have on location has lots of black rubber all over the place already from one day of playing it. The balls had the black rubber marks all over as well.

Wow - that's a LOT of crud on the playfield! Ours has been out for just over a week now, with hundreds of plays on it. I stopped out last night to see how it's looking. Absolutely no black marks on the playfield or balls. Pretty much looks like it did when we opened it up. Strange.
TRON was very similar. I'll be cleaning the disk with alcohol before the first game is played. No problems with TRON after I cleaned it this way a couple of times. New better quality balls won't hurt either. Rubber will break down with use so it's like brake dust on a rim. No one likes it, but you gotta clean it. Maybe a silicone disc would be cleaner?

This was after the first evening of play (maybe 100 plays @ about a 4:00 average). I removed the black disc entirely until I can figure out an alternative. I noticed just in the three games I played after pulling it out of the box that there were black scuffs all over the balls. I cleaned them twice before I left for the day and I still came in the next morning to what you see in the pic.
BTW, Kiss looks awesome with warm white frosted Comet 2-SMD's! Especially with some added spots and strips.

I was wondering about this. Won't the alcohol have the effect of refreshing the rubber and actually prolonging the wear-off period? I would like to get the original rubber back on there to restore the action (some fun yet frustrating curve balls with the factory rubber).
Quoted from MustangPaul:I'd like to know who's gonna be the first Pinsider to have MET LE, ACDC LE and KISS LE next to each other at home. That will make some picture.
I have a room that is 1 side METALLICA (with METLE) and the other side ACDC (BIBLE) - plus albums, posters and memorabilia...
unfortunately I cant fit my (soon to arrive) KISSLE in there..

Too funny - we put those exact warm whites in the slings! Might have to look into adding spots or strips too! I was actually out at Mortimer's a few weekends back for a bachelor party (yeah....that's how we roll....) and everyone had a fantastic time! Games looked and played just awesome!
How did the black disc look when you removed it? Based on the fact that you're still seeing all that rubber showing up, I'm wonder if it's just leftover gunk in the ball trough / hidden areas or if there's rubber coming off flippers / slings / etc?? We swapped all these out immediately.

Thanks for playin' at Mort's!
After removing the disc and thoroughly cleaning the playfield, there is no more black rubber floating around. Flippers are SuperBands at this point as well. I might try the alcohol method, or I was thinking about using a decal that has a little grit to it (looking at my TMNT pizza spinner now).

Tony's was really bad at Sun Ray last night too. Playfield looked like a normal route game at most locations (filthy) and the balls had black rubber marks all over them. He has cleaned the game multiple times too. Hopefully the rubber disc stops wearing soon.
The black looks great because it gives the game that vintage 'been on route since 1978' look of the original.
Titan- where are my silicone discs???

What is the best product and/or way to remove the rubber marks from the playfield? Light rubbing with a microfiber cloth? I want to clean it off often, but not risk removing too much clear from the PF surface.
Not sure what these aftermarket discs are made of. Has anyone tried them?

John, how does removing the desk affect play? Does it still put any spin on the ball or does it just dribble straight out now? Was just curious what this would do to the gameplay.
Ball lock is really flaky. Lots of raptly bounce outs for me. Aim better?? Ramp shots are nice. Art is beautiful.

It doesn't have the spin/action on it, more of a dribble. It slows the gameplay down and makes the game less random.
I thought when I found this there were blacks marks on this insert, cleaning proved it to be under the clear...
The quality control that went into my game is poor, here are my Gene head pics.. do yours look like this?? I am supposedly getting a new head sent out but how would you fix the insert? I like the game for where it's at but the others things are just upsetting.

spinning disk makes it a tougher lock.
In other words, aim better
Quoted from paratrooper:As previous TRON owner, I can tell you that I tried everything to stop this. Replaced factory rubber, etc...
NOTHING WORKED! NOTHING! It became an expensive pain in the ass to try and eliminate the black marks.
If it's anything like what was in POTC. I went to the hardware store. Got clear anti slip stuff for a bath tub. Cut to fit. Pressed it on. Worked great. No mess.
LTG : )™
Quoted from gearheaddropping:Looks like a three year old painted that head. Stern, don't f--k this up.
I've got aboot 32' of trim work at my house I painted last weekend after 13 beers and it looks better than that.
The local pro machine that I played, Gene's teeth look like a broken picket fence. Lines were incomplete and all wobbly. Very first thing I noticed unfortunately.

Same here.. very bad paint job

The manufacturer should probably fire the six year olds and hire some older kids to paint those heads...

C'mon, those Chinese kids are doing the best they can!

wondering when we are going to see the 1.0 update...
Excited to see what the 'production' code looks like

Hoping before the Launch Party this weekend.
Quoted from TheLaw:And it's probably lead paint so...be careful people.
Exactly.
Don't put your mouth on it.
Someone needs to come up with the "wham tongue" mod on the Gene head. You press a button and Genes tongue flips up and knocks the ball off the ramp. It would have the same use as the "wham arm" on WWE. Nothing

Ehhh. Don't be a sissy. Lick it Up!

If that's under the clear there's probably no way to fix it. Contact Stern and demand resolution. I think I read that at least a few people managed to get a fully-populated playfield swap on AC/DC LE with the hazy lower playfield window (though most were just shipped a replacement playfield, and would then have to put in the 30+ hours to swap it). Alternately if it's not a deal breaker for you, maybe they'll send you some cash to make it right? Regardless, that level of damage on a brand new playfield seems pretty unacceptable to me.

(If I were having to consider this resolution) -- the only way I'd take cash on it is if I were 100% sure it was a lifetime keeper. I'm not sure I could never be sure of such a thing on any of my pins, so I wouldn't be a good candidate for cash.

i didn't even realize there was a spinning disk under there. i think i lost 8 of my 9 balls sdtm off that thing. lol.

yeah, some crazy spin/english coming out from there. I like the randomw nature. I had a few balls with so much spin that they went back up the pf after coming out. Fun stuff.
Quoted from TomGWI:Hoping before the Launch Party this weekend.
That is what they have indicated and it better be, esp since the current bug of getting intermittent resets when doing Demon MB.
I was able to sneak in a few games again last night after I cleaner her all up. I'm really enjoying the game so far. I find it a lot of fun. Still can't get into Star Child very often
The Starchild zone to qualify Love Gun MB is very poorly done. It may take one shot that bounces around forever and lands in the saucer, or you may take 10 clean shots that hit a couple targets and roll out without much progress. I only played about 5 games and experienced both of these extremes when trying solely for Love Gun. Hopefully that area gets utilized better because as of now it's pretty weak.
The game looks awesome (other than the return of the fake chrome molding - whyyyy?) and sounds great too. I hope I like it more as the rules develop. So far it's not very satisfying to shoot the lock targets of death and getting wicked spin SDTM returns from the disc.
Do the cities do anything? Anyone else notice they misspelled Pittsburgh? #wherestheH

Another thing that is frustrating with the Starchild area is that when it comes out of there, you have to hit another switch to reactivate the area. If it drains out of there to the right flipper and put it back in there, the zone is still dead and it will just drain right out. You currently have to hit another switch in between the two shots, which you shouldn't have to.

That will make for an interesting tournament if it's still beta code.

I am dreading even the thought of how much of a goat rodeo it would be.
