Well said. That said, this reminds me somewhat of buying a German automobile. Any worthwhile option will require a hefty dollar outage. No such thing as base model.

More options are always good. I like the idea of being able to customize a pin and not be stuck with the all or nothing LE/pro. I don't see how that will take away from modders. In fact, I bet it will encourage more people to customize their pins. Hopefully, Stern can keep pricing in check.

Looks great! But I would be concerned that they aren't going to protect the cabinet from wearing, the cab would seem to be exposed right near the flipper button.
The part towards the front of the game can be covered with clear mylar if you are concerned about wear. I would not be though in a home use environment.

If people want a chrome look some reflective mylar would probably be a reasonable solution, and not expensive.
