Damn you KISS. I still think you are a pretty cool pin every time I play you on location. Pro or Prem/LE I think this muscled up rock theme may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Before the Yetis or Donnies, it still looks pretty sweet and is a blast of fun, whether that update ever comes or not.

Am I completely wrong here?

#2 5 years ago

Yes. It’s not awful but there’s nothing really great about it. Just a generic game hoping to move units on theme alone.

KISS is a good pin that some people posted had terrible code when it was released and the parrots on Pinside kept repeating it even after it received updates and the code became good. Plus there was a thread asking when the code was going to be updated that people kept seeing which lead people to believe the pin was bad. If you play it and enjoy it that’s all that matters, don’t be concerned about the Pinside peanut gallery.

The animation is a little lazy, but I enjoy mine. Colors are vibrant, rules are pretty good, and just a solid shooter......no airballs, gratifying shots, mine isn't leaving anytime soon.

Kiss is a great game. The shots are smooth and it has a great risk vs reward. Sucks it's spoiled by the shitty kiss theme. It's a fantastic game though. Don't let the hates steer you wrong.

Kiss is a sweet machine.

However, I had a good offer for my Kiss Pro and spent the money on an Aerosmith Pro which I consider was a good upgrade

- basically the same rules - but better
(Better super modes, timed modes)
- cooler toy (toy box)
- LCD

both are good games though.

And challenging. That’s why you see them popping up in a lot of big tournaments recently.

Honestly I love it and have no attachment to kiss. It just shoots well and is a lot of fun to play. I think the art is good and the call outs are solid. Rules are nothing amazing but I don’t need every game to be LOTR.

#8 5 years ago

I've always enjoyed it every time I have played and would like to have one, but I really appreciate the music even though I'm not a big fan.

Do the large playfield inserts have any function yet?

A wise man once told me you have to live like your on vacation.

So, I say, it’s only right now. Great game!

(No) you are a wise player. KISS is a very fun machine .Note: The (KISS PRO ) model is great . However I went for LE. The KISS LE is really sweet with the candy apple red armor . The GENE head has a physical ball lock on LE. This cuts down on the SDTM from the KISS PRO splitting the ball out every time you shoot the shot. The game play and unique lay out is awesome. The call outs are great. The LE has 16 extra full RGB inserts . The LE has choreographed GI that change color with the music , modes and Multi-Balls very cool. The Songs are great. The LE "Love Gun Multi-Ball" where you need to shot up the right ramp to " Levitate " the pinball across the backboard is awesome. The Foil decals look very nice. Fun addicting pinball machine . Your buying KISS pinball instincts are warranted .

Dude shut up about how cool the LE is. I’m picking up a Pro tomorrow

I’m a pro guy on this title.

Prefer the ability to start multiball in the Paul Hole.

But all kiss is good kiss!!

KISS is a fun game, solid title. The call outs by Paul are hilarious.

I'm there with you. KISS' shortcoming to me isn't that it's bad, it's that I just think other games are better. Its second biggest problem is every other KISS I play shoots the ball STDM, making the main toy pretty stupid even if the game gives the ball back to you.

I own a KISS CD now and I didn't before 2015 so I guess I played it enough for it to make an impression on me.

I really like the game, it was on location a fair bit here when it came out but now i dont see them much anymore an miss it, both models are great personally loved the premium, im not a kiss fan at all but really think this is a fun table. Theres a great tutorial on you tube by Bowen Kerins that you should check out if u haven't already, after i watched that it made me really appreciate what this game has to offer. Great game! !

Kiss is a great game, that got a bad rap because of the code was a mess when first released. the newest code is solid but most people had already given up on the game. With better code this could be one of sterns best rock titles (i own most of them so i'm not biased). Regarding the Pro/premium/LE debate. Premium all the way. the color changing LED are a must. drop targets are a plus and starting love gun from the ramp is much better than getting lucky and having the ball fall into the kickout hole. Another nice thing about the Premium is the physical lock in gene's head. it prevents the dreaded spit down the middle kickout that plagues some machines.

Absolutely agree. I don’t even like KISS and I bought it. I would play on location at an arcade that had most of the new Sterns and I just had the most fun with KISS. I bought a KISS Pro and I would probably suggest you buy a Pro because people seem to have problems with the Demon head on the Premium and LE. Lots of mods available to jazz it up if that’s your thing.

People who bitch about the code have no clue what they’re talking about. It’s a challenging game with lots of ways to attack it. I’ve had mine for two years and I’m still not getting to one of the 3 wizard modes very often.

Not a big KISS fan? You can always swap out the songs via Pinball Browser. That’s what I did. I left 4 of the KISS songs that are catchy and replaced with classic rock songs from the same era and genre. It freaking rocks!

On the pro, you can start LG two ways ...
Either the kickout or via the right ramp.

People just write off certain titles.

Even with unfinished code, KISS is just fun to play, and the way it uses it's multipliers is as good as it gets.

I prefer it to MET, AC/DC, AS etc.

It's a feel good game.

Wish they would polish up the animations, add champion awards etc...... hopefully they still might.

Pro is great but light show on the LE is amazing. And mirrored backglass on the LE.

#24 5 years ago

If you buy KISS go LE, I really enjoyed mine while I had it

#25 5 years ago

Definitely fun and great value for a recent release. The Demon spitting SDTM can be eliminated by adjusting the mechanism. That is really the only common issue on the pro. The art is great, the sound quality is great, it shoots quick and clean and the lighting is impressive (even on the pro). The ruleset while better than than the common perception is still not the highlight. Hopefully the update coming this summer will clear the remaining bugs and add a few improvements. The pro is the way to go, IMHO. You won't miss the Prem/LE extras nor the additional mech maintenance.

The fact that you enjoy playing it on location seems like a no brainier decision.

#26 5 years ago

Thanks for all the input! The pro has a lot to offer and although I read it had some initial SDTM issues, seems like an easy fix. Did the pro include rails and lcds? I believe I play a blinged premium on location.

No service rails, just the cheaper stilts. LCD? Did you mean LEDs? If so, then yes, LEDs throughout along with RGB for the arrow inserts and pop bumpers.

KISS (like AS) is a pin I want to ignore...but can’t.

Every time I start thinking about adding another pin or two to my lineup, it comes to mind. Maybe not as a first choice, but it’s always in the conversation.

It’s fun to play, I dig the artwork, and it keeps me coming back for more almost for the exact reasons some people don’t like or simply dismiss it.

I’d just use pinball browser to replace half the tunes on it. My 10 year old son loves rock music, so I’d add some Twisted Sister, Van Halen, Priest, Scorpions, making it a Monsters of Rock pin. He’d be excited.
