Hi all. New pinball machine owner... Kings of Steel in very good shape - recently restored/refreshed by a local repairman. Kids have been enjoying pinball with their friends.

Target switch broke - main target in the center of the play field, large rectangle target. Leaf broke just below the playfield surface. Two pics attached (put a rubber band across two posts to keep the ball from getting stuck... let's the kids keep playing for now.)

1) any advice / assistance on finding and punching the correct replacement target switch?
2) i'm OK with a soldering iron but not an expert. is this repair something a rookie can tackle without creating more problems?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Moderator - apologies if i've placed this in the wrong sub-forum

The replacement switch target is A390-00017-0 but I couldn’t find this exact target when I restored my game. I’ll have alook at mine tonight and see if I can give you a better idea of the replacement part I used.
If you can solder a little you’ll be fine with swapping this out. It should be just 2 screws to remove and 2 wires to solder with a diode.

Youtube has lots of short how to videos. May help you improve your skills.

Take plenty of pics and take a note which wire is toward the negative band on the diode.

machine off , remove ball, place playfield in "service position"

The same target was busted on my KoS when i had it (and the plastic above it too like yours). I also ccouldnt find the exact right part and I subbed something in that was close enough.

I think i found a used red square target at a pinball show or off a spare playfield.

Thanks all. I found this one with the same dimensions as the original rectangle target.

Appreciate the advice and suggestions... i'll be attempting this switch replacement myself.

THANKS!
