Every time I think I am getting better at reading schematics I prove myself wrong. I just picked up a Gottlieb K&Q that is in good shape but has been sitting. At times the 1000 point light comes on when it hits 200, 300, or 400 points and scores replays accordingly. Other times it works correctly and doesn't come on until after the 900 reel clicks over to zero. I have the schematics but can't figure out the switches and relays. For once the wire colors are pretty easy to read.

Another problem is with the ace to king kick over. Nine out of ten times the ball hits the king kick out lever before it drops back into place. No problem with any of the others

Thanks for any help

The thousands lite is controlled by a single normally open switch on the HB relay (or thousands relay), which is located in the control bank and may be hard to see. That switch may be gapped too closely and making contact when it shouldn't??? The HB relay only has 3 switches. Look for one with black/yellow and white/black wires attached. The circuit can be seen at location 6B to 6C on your schematic. Also make sure the control bank carriage is well seated and the wing nuts are secure.

If that fails, it might be possible that the 9-position switch on your hundreds reel is gapped too closely and vibration from the score reel is causing the switch to momentarily conduct and the HB relay to pull in prematurely. That circuit can be found at location 3E to 3H on the schematic.

as to the hole kicking... there is a end of stroke switch that is mounted near the coil for the row, adjust it so it opens earlier... and kills power quicker

On the kickout hole issue, might want to inspect to make sure the Kings hole kicker arm is not lightly binding on something and causing the kicker arm to hang up and stay up longer than the other kicker arms.

Thanks for the input. I know where the HB relay is and the relay bar did come loose and pivot down. I'll start there of course and attack the kickout later. I did have a thought this weekend. I don't think there was a problem until I pushed it into place against the wall. I may have put it in a bind or created a level issue. I'll report back later this week

Good ideas. IME, all kinds of wonky switch behavior can occur on a Gottlieb when a switch bank carriage loosens up and one end slips slightly out of place.

If the other kicker arms are functioning normally, it does sound like the Kings eject arm may be hanging up.

I'm up and running. I didn't explain the 1000 point light correctly. It wasn't just the light coming on, the HB relay was locking in, turning on the light. The hundreds 9-position switch looked good with plenty of air gap but tightening the stack and adjusting the switch took care of that problem.

The ace kicker switch in the hole was too sensitive. The ball was still rattling in the hole when the kicker hit it. If that makes sense. So it wasn't seated on the kicker lever. Adjusting the switch and tweaking the angle of the lever fixed things

Thanks for the help. Now I see why it is such a popular game. It is a blast!
